Here's my take on the Airscale Typhoon test shot, as you can see I'm a few weeks behind Max but I have a deadline, I have to get this finished before Ramadam which is in around 3 weeks time!

The instrument panel has layer lines in the photo, but honestly, they're all but invisible to the naked eye and no way are the visible when in the cockpit.

Here are all the bits for the cockpit painted and weathered.

And all put together.  Like Max I had a bit of a faff with the throttle quadrant but got there in the end.

I added a few missing items from the cockpit side walls.

Wheel wells come up lovely

The radiator and oil cooler parts are just jaw dropping!

Yes, you need 3 hands and it's a faff but it will drop into place eventually.

This is a test shot and as such there was a bit of flash here and there, the Mr Hobby epoxy filler is for belt and braces.  Not I have the enshrouded exhausts therefore I painted the surrounds to save masking.  Sadly they can't be added from the outside.

With the seams sanded, the panel lines were restored as were the rivets.  The fish plates were missing from the seams and I had sanded the adjacent ones so I added those from thick vinyl cut on my silhouette cutter.

Lots of riveting and scribing was done on the nose, including the little access hatch.  Not the Vallejo filler sorting out a few minor gaps here and there.

And that's where I am for now, very pleased with the progress so far.  Next up will be the wings and tail, but that's tomorrow's job.

Great stuff Jamie, it’s brilliant to see your Tiffy here too. Looking very good my friend, and looking forward to further updates.

I wish you lot would stop posting images of this model :angry2:

Some of us are attempting to ignore it in an attempt to avoid purchasing it. :fight:

You're not helping! :BANGHEAD2:

Seriously though, great stuff :clap2:

It's a genuine pleasure to see this being built.

Now, does anyone know the going rate for a kidney?

Gorgeous work mate!

Ugh...I am trying hard to resist as I have almost no budget left  for the year already and constantly telling myself a SH Tempest with a ton of aftermarket and corrections will be just as good .....my heart of hearts knows I will end up ordering one after seeing your one along with Max's one.

Please don't post anymore updates on here again ole chap :D...just kidding

Cheers Anthony

That is looking superb @Haggis Your work and channel are always a treat to follow!
Having spent 12 years in the ME, Ramadan is always the best time NOT to be there!!  nothing gets done anyway...
If you see Mr Bournes-Harper anytime soon, please give him my best regards!

He's on leave at the moment but certainly will when he's back!

Progress.

The airframe is complete.  I wish I'd followed Max's advice with the wings, I ended up with a slight gap and the wing root and a slight step at the wingrlot, no such issues on the other side as I added the top wing first like Max.  There was a large gap at the trailing edge caused by the contours at the mating surfaces, some judicial sanding with a 100 grit Infini sanding stick!

I think Peter accidentally put 2 left hand lens covers in, mayday.  Actually it was a bonus...

Using my Portrait 3 I cut out some sellotape lens covers, these were carefully stuck in place and burnished with a Tamiya cotton bud.

You have to be very careful not to touch the sticky side so fine tweezers are a must!

Here it is in place, the cover was slightly too long but it was easily trimmed later.  Now for the vinyl covers, again cut on my Portrait 3.

Last job was to burnish it all down the add the fasteners with a beading tool.

sl4qa3.jpg

Lastly, low tack Ammo masking tape covering the clear part.

With the clear parts in place and masked, next stop paint!
