GWH | P-40 | Tamiya Made In China 1:32

Wanted to show you progress on P-40 from GWH. Kit is just superb. Their next F6F is for me must-have. I can only encourage them for more.

I added magnet on propeller tip and on propeller itself.







Then I remade headrest (kit one is just oversized) with epoxy putty.





Cockpit frame fits perfectly.



Fuselage to wings joint is very clever, as you can see filler is needed only in rear fuselage.

Lovely work! The kit just looks like a really enjoyable experience from the latest build logs. I may have to put my own kit up higher in the que.

Really nice work.  I love what you did with the headrest.  Are you planning something similar with the wheel well canvas?  Kit part looks ok but is noticeably thick around the opening.

Thank you, no really for me it's ok, there are other things I want to spend extra work.





Interior is perfectly done, and fuselage halves have no problem to join.



To make elevator more sturdy I glued metal rods. There is an opition to make it movable but it's a bit too delicate thing so it will be unpositionable.



Then I decided too open some hatches underside it will be pity to close those installations.







PE in box is really thin, I decided to glue it on some plasticard. It should be done in titanium i guess to make less than 1mm thickness sheet durable. It's opposite to Tamiya their PE is armour grade thickness.

Green in cockpit area was not a good choice, I used ANA 611 but after gathering some info I decided to make mix to corespond Dupont 71-036.

 

Maybe It turns out bit dark but overall ok in my opinion.

Cockpit finished, Eduard 3D decals used. What is unfortunate is fact that it is lacking many details. Basing on this photo I added some.

Surfing on net I found this info about radio equipment on Britmodeller:

Airfix P-40 in 1:48 have it (Eduard PE glued), but I assume that is not correct for AVG.

Small update, fuselage plus wing merged together. This was a real beauty, prettier than later P-40s in my opinion.



Kit has a real-life sliding canopy but afer few tryouts 2 nasty scratches appeared 😵‍💫.



This was coused by those 2 suckers:



It is not a big thing because 2 glasses behind cockpit needs polishing too.



I made better joint of ailerons to wings using metal rods, kit one exist in very delicate form.

As concern "RCA-7-H" - there is obviously communication equipment name misinterpretation. RCA - just the brandname. The communication set consists of separate receiver (e.g. AVR-7/15/20 receiver and AVT-7/15/20 transmitter). There were two separate boxes inside radio compartment and two remote control panels in the cockpit.

I decided to use flaps dedicated for Hasegawa, PE Is much more sturdier.





Using some spare etch i scratched radio receiever.
