JNordgren41 Posted January 11 Posted January 11 I've been gathering research materials for my Tamiya 1/32 P-51D and came across the restoration log for a P-51D-25NT formerly of the RNZAF, serial number NZ2423. The restoration was incredibly thorough, and while I'm certainly not an expert, it looks like they made every effort to bring it back as close as possible to its original glory and finishes. In addition to showing virtually every part of the aircraft as they rebuilt her, there are also a ton of photos of everything before restoration. I saw one other post of this aircraft with a video and a lot of the restoration pics, but I didn't see this linked in the thread. I also included a link to the restored aircraft at the Biggin Hill Historic Aircraft Centre. For anyone working on a P-51D, I hope it's helpful. The Gold/Black checker board represents the Wellington Rugby Union provincial colours (4 Squadrons wore the provincial colours for Auckland/Wellington/Canterbury/Otago) NZ2423 later served with 42 Squadron at RNZAF Station Ohakea in Drogue towing/Commuications, the below photo shows NZ2423 at Ohakea with 42 Squadron, She was the last Mustang to fly with the RNZAF circa 1957 before retirement (RNZAF Official - Air Force Musuem of New Zealand - Used with Permissions) Regards Alan JNordgren41 and CRAZY IVAN5 2
