AngryJazz_Models Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Getting the large scale aircraft itch after building a few Sci-Fi tanks over Christmas period... Had this kit in the stash for years, but it kinda scared me due to the metallic finish. I only ever did a 1/48 aircraft in this finish and I did not really think it turned out that great. However large scale planes somehow grew to almost half of my stash, so I can't keep hoarding them... got to build some! Stop being scared and see how it goes. Maybe I'll learn a thing or two 😅 The version with wood wings was the scheme that got me hooked for the kit. The Uschi decals were a must have addition to the build! A little disappointment about the decals are the fuzzy edges of the wood print and the lack of premade cutouts for the tail surfaces. As usual I may get creative with the markings - we will see as we move along 😄 I have some generic 1/32 fabric seatbelts from Eduard I plan on adding. And also i changed image host to postimage. I'm not sure of the free limitations on this site, but hopefully it works for all(I really don't want to use a paid service). geedubelyer, Greif8, Polecadt and 12 others 15
Out2gtcha Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Cooooooooool! Those decals look amazing. AngryJazz_Models 1
Fokkerguy21 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Have two of these kits----I couldn't decide between the rocket or twin-argus version. Twin will be a factory scene, but those wood-grain decals are now impossible to find, so I may just go NM fuse with camo wings. AngryJazz_Models 1
AngryJazz_Models Posted January 13 Author Posted January 13 Thank you for the comments 😄 @Fokkerguy21 - Yeah I guess I got lucky by buying the set back in the day. Its strange that lot of the Uschi stuff get sold out and he doesn't restock it. The build continues. Test fitting shows that some panel lines don't line up. The middle one is off while the rest are perfect 🤔 The gun panel does not quite fit. I decided to make it fit up front where the details are and I filled in the gap from the inside with black CA. The rest of the cockpit builds up nicely. There will be a fuselage seam to fix. The sides look a bit flat where they meet - hopefully I can sand it to a nice curve and get the seam perfect. Will be very visible with the Alu finish. I had to choice of seat belts - PE or fabric. The fabric ones are branded with HGW 2013, so guess its the early days. I picked them up with a good discount. I intended to use them for my Border Ju-87, but there is a spare... Perfect! Greif8, TankBuster, Landrotten Highlander and 10 others 13
Biggles87 Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I like the look of this. Do you get the option of both versions in one box? John. 🇺🇦 AngryJazz_Models 1

John. 🇺🇦 You actually get all 3! Single engine, double and a rocket version with the engines inside the fuselage. Also it includes a stand for a factory setting and small trolly to move it around. 23 minutes ago, Out2gtcha said: Very cool Thank you! Continuing the build. The cockpit is not that large, so was not that much to paint. However there's no decals for instruments or anything - only a few warning labels. I got a new wet pallet for christmas so perfect time to try some detail painting with my new found love of a kolinsky brush 😄 The colors etc are all made up. I took some inspiration from LPJ Models on YouTube - his build is beautiful. First time doing the fabric belts. It took almost as long to make those as painting the cockpit 😂 Hopefully they are a upgrade from the PE I could have used instead. Next up... Lots and lots of seam work on all parts, engines etc Shoggz, patricksparks, Polecadt and 16 others 19
Mal_Belford Posted January 13 Posted January 13 WoW yaih.....all is so crisp and really do pop out, like it very much AngryJazz_Models 1
AngryJazz_Models Posted January 15 Author Posted January 15 Thanks a lot @Mal_Belford ! I wanted to share a little project for a thing I had my eye on for a long time.... Laser cutting! 😎 Got myself this thing for Christmas 😄 Always thought laser would be easier than using a silhouette cutter. Plus it can be used for so much more. Small test run tonight... and it's a success! The heat does make the glue a bit soft on the back of the Tamiya sheet. Maybe I have to adjust it a bit more... Or just leave it to cool down for a min or 2, but I was a bit too excited 😄 Shoggz, LSP_Kevin, scvrobeson and 9 others 12

AngryJazz_Models Posted January 15 Author Posted January 15 You need one Mal! 😉 No need to cut styrene manually anymore 😂 Thinking of making foam plugs for cockpits, wheel bays etc. Engraving bases for models ... It even has a camera, so I could technically laser rivets unto the fuselage if I get it tightly enough calibrated 🤔 I put up a small video of it on my instagram page, if you want to see it cut the masks. Not sure if the forum here can handle video. Link to Instagram reel scvrobeson, Uncarina, patricksparks and 1 other 4
scvrobeson Posted January 16 Posted January 16 That's looking like a great start, and what a cool tool to cut masks. Matt AngryJazz_Models 1
AngryJazz_Models Posted January 19 Author Posted January 19 Thank you Matt! I was challenged to try some small letters for markings etc.. Unfortunately it was not a success. It is very hard to deal with the glue under the tape. I can make very crisp cuts, but the glue remains and I cannot airbrush through it 😬 If I burn the tape harder I lose details and it's almost impossible to lift the tape without it breaking apart. Plus some fuzzy edges are still present from glue residue. For now its not the silhouette replacement I was hoping for. I may get rid of it again 😅 Back to to model. Almost every part that goes on the fuselage is a 2 piece part, so lots and lots of filling sanding... Scribing and adding back rivet details. The true test will be primer tomorrow. My choice of filler is black CA glue with VMS CA powder mixed in. Managed to break off the pitot. I drilled out a 0.3mm hole and will add it back with brass tube later. Pesky seams inside the engines... I got myself a Dspiae sander just for jobs like this. Much easier! Also got the disk sander they released - its very handy especially since the kit has many raised pin marks all over the place. Starting to take on shape of a torpedo 😂 Dpgsbody55, Landrotten Highlander, TankBuster and 11 others 14
Biggles87 Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Coming together quite quickly, looks like you’re going to have fun with the seam filling though. John. 🇺🇦 AngryJazz_Models 1
Greif8 Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Nice progress and nice tools as well! The cockpit looks very good. Ernest AngryJazz_Models 1
