Thanks for passing on this really sad news Kev, I loved Mike's very down to earth approach to modelling.

I enjoyed his many posts, he passed on his experience and knowledge in an entertaining way and

I will and do miss his input.

Sad news indeed,

This long silence worried me, but I still waited with hope for good news. But unfortunately, it didn't happen.
It's really very sad. RIP Mike,in clear blue skies.

If there are any LSP members in Oregon's Gresham/Portland area, Mike Maben's nephew, on behalf of Mike's family, would appreciate help with Mike modelling stuff. Unfortunately Mike's nephew has yet to provide either his own name or any contact point except Mike's LSP PM, which might already be closed. If it is, could it be temporarily reopened or in some way diverted to Matt or Kevin's mail boxes?

 

What a joy it was to share Mike Maben's love for aeroplanes.

Not only was Mike a kind and humorous contributor, he was a damn fine modeller.

 

His Revell P51 was my main inspiration for the one in my signature..

Very sad news, keenly felt, probably a bit more so by us members who are nearer where we are going than from where we started...  Intimations of Mortality and all that jazz.

 

I do hope his family get they help they will need, having recently helped in a similar situation with a dear friend who passed away in 2024, and I am certainly reducing my stash brutally!

I suggest he contact the Oregon Modelers Society, the local IPMS club. Contact e-mail: oregon@ipmsusa.com . Mike was the only Portland area LSP member I knew of, though I suspect there are lurkers.
