Lud13 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 (edited) Hello, Well, I simply couldn’t skip this GB—even with three P-40s already on the bench. I’ve decided to build a Bf 109 K-4, continuing my obsession with Reichsverteidigung bands. I would really like to finish this one as a JG 6 aircraft (Blue 12), but a JG 27 machine (black double chevron) is also an option. I’m slightly hesitant about the JG 6 choice, as there’s no clear evidence that a defense band was applied. On the other hand, it’s such an interesting and attractive scheme that it’s hard to resist. So far, I’ve only done some superficial work on the kit—more to come soon. Edited January 3 by Lud13 Gazzas, LSP_Kevin, Greif8 and 7 others 10
thierry laurent Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Well keep in mind documentation about the K4 is very thin. So it is not that difficult to recreate a JG6 K4 that would be probable! I just did the exercise for a JG27 (Hasegawa) and a JG6 (Kotare) planes for which only one single picture of each is existing! So, if you want to do one, do not hesitate! Lud13 Posted January 24 Author Posted January 24 (edited) Progress at last. Nothing spectecular, finished cockpit closed the fuselage and added wings. As usual no problem with kit itself, i think hase 109s are the best 109s. U can keep your Kotares, SWSs etc and send me your obsolite Hasegawas;) As for the scheme decided for that Blue 12 JG6. Since i cant find RLM77 in Serbia decided to use Model Master2038 FS36492. According to Color Picker this is the closest i can get. U guys got any ideas about other options for RLM77 ??? Greif8 Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Cockpit looks very good and it looks like you got all your joints and panel line stepless, great job! Ernest Martinnfb 1
Lud13 Posted January 31 Author Posted January 31 Well, I am done with Montex cockpit masks. Every single time there is a curve there is a lift off, they are just too thick. From now on switching to Eduard masks Gazzas, Dany Boy, Greif8 and 4 others 3 4
Dpgsbody55 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Sorry to see this and I hope you can fix it. I've never tried Montex masks and usually make my own using Tamiya tape. Cheers, Michael Martinnfb 1
Greif8 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Masks out of Kabuki like tape work better then the vinyl ones IMHO. The ones made from vinyl tend to both shrink and not stick well as you have unfortunately found out. Ernest Martinnfb 1
Lud13 Posted February 8 Author Posted February 8 Hello all Time for an update... Paint is on, used a mix of colors. Lower side Valejo rlm 76/78 and aluminum. Upper side Model Master RLM 75 and 2038 FS 36492 for RLM 77 and RLM 81/82 on fin and rudder. Still have some touch ups to add before the gloss coat and decals. Now as for the RLM 77 had a real struggle. Can not find any company's RLM 77 is Sebia so after some digging through the net and Color Picker decided to use FS 36942 as the closest according to those sources. Now when i look at it like this in raw state without any filters it does look a little too bright to me But we will see how it shows in the final product Dany Boy, Greif8, Isar 30/07 and 7 others 10
Dpgsbody55 Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Looks good. Nice paint job. Cheers, Michael Lud13 and Martinnfb 2
Greif8 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 I like the paint work. The color shades look pretty cool and the double fuselage band adds a lot of interest. Ernest Martinnfb and Lud13 2

Lud13 Posted February 18 Author Posted February 18 Hello all Finished K-4 today so here are smoe fast pictures. Will do better ones when time allows. All in all satisfied with end result. Decided to do this one since its so exotic and different from usual K-4s. Paint scheme is not so complex but rich with many different colors. Now i am looking at Alley Cat Bf 109D conversion so i might start that one ...or try to finish those three P-40s on workbench... Hope u like it... and sure enough... missed navigation lights Greif8, Dany Boy, Gazzas and 9 others 12
