barkhorn Posted December 23, 2025 Posted December 23, 2025 The next LSP from Hobby 2000 is their first rebox of a Trumpeter kit, as usual supplemented with Cartograf-printed decals and masks. Yet another LSP release should be available in the early spring of 2026. LSP_K2, KiwiZac, Sturmbock and 11 others 12 2
Tony T Posted December 24, 2025 Posted December 24, 2025 (edited) Just getting violet rectangles but found these links: https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/H2K32019 https://www.scalemates.com/kits/hobby-2000-32019-mig-21mf--1687806 I'll be in for one despite the slightly anaemic kit nose and, while fond of the "chessboard" (Battenberg cake to me) Polish markings, would prefer a "Nile camouflage" Egyptian machine. Tony Just how anemic is the nose? I don't have the kit ,almost got it a couple of times but backed out. I read that there were other issues with it . To be fair I've seen some great builds so apparently it isn't too awfully bad. Is the nose issue very noticeable [ didn't seem like it from the builds I saw ]? Remember some folks can't /couldn't see the issue with the Eduard -21 bis nose but I saw it straight away though. Gazzas 1
Tony T Posted December 25, 2025 Posted December 25, 2025 Alan Gadbois goes into some detail here... Unfortunately all I get is violet rectangles since Imgur et al stopped making images available to devices with a UK number. In essence the nose is about 1mm too small in diameter and about 8mm too short. Tony Alain Gadbois, nmayhew and CRAZY IVAN5 3

Rye Field Models temptingly put up a silhouette of a MiG-21 saying "in a new scale", but that has lost any further definition and blurred into the background of crystal ball gazing haze. In time, Eduard might do a hybrid 3DP and IM styrene series, but I'm not holding my breath: a pity, as their 1:48 offerings are so classy. The salvation lies in an enterprising soul CAD'ing and 3DP'ing a new front end. Failing that, the chunky Trumpy MiG plastic readily lends itself to abuse, splicing a section into the nose as Alain indicates, with refinement to the recently tortured model coming from quality AM. Of course, there's the remote possibility that Hobby2000 will add some enhancements of its own. It's Christmas today and so all is forgiven Trumpy. Tony CRAZY IVAN5 1

I built the Um and ..... it wasn't too bad , fit could've been better but I've dealt with a lot worse. You know full well that as soon as that enterprising soul 3Ds a new front end . someone will come out with a new tool -21. Good for us not so much for the enterprising soul. Eduard's -21s truly are the best with the exception of their -21bis front end misfire but hey it happens.
barkhorn Posted February 20 Author Posted February 20 H2K also released a wheel set for their/Trumpeter kit: LSP_Kevin, dutik, CRAZY IVAN5 and 1 other 4
Rick Griewski Posted February 21 Posted February 21 I have the Trumpeter kit on my stash since it was released, with carefully chosen decals and it is still not built. So I will pass.
Tony T Posted Thursday at 05:33 PM Posted Thursday at 05:33 PM Succumbed to the Hobby 2000 boxing of the 1:32 Trumpy MiG-21MF and it's due to arrive tomorrow. If there's anything different from the old kit, bar the new box and Polish decals, I'll post the info. Will live with the slightly undersize nose though I have a spare kit to hack, so may attempt Alain's method. Anyone know of any Fishbed decals for an Egyptian Nile Delta camo finish? csavaglio Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago Curious if it'll have the metal gear the originals did. More for future releases... I have an F-13, and pair of MFs in the stash with a third thats going to the swap meet table in a few months. I have a Lancer conversion for one.

The Trumpeter kits went all-plastic a few years back, but retained the rubber wheel covers. Probably ditto the plastic and resin 'diorama' aspect of the original MF kit. Will post again after I get to open the box. Tony csavaglio 1
Tony T Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Yes, nice swanky box, glossier instruction manual and a lovely big Cartograph decal sheet for the Polish options, with full stencils. I think it would be a crime not to do it with "chessboard" markings (aka slice of strawberry & vanilla Battenburg cake). No metal legs or radar cone, which are provided in plastic, but it retains the little metal screws for the wheel hubs etc., and rubber covers. No resin ammo boxes, but sprue J with the 4 ground crew, ammo belts and dragchute pack is there, and full engine with ground handling dolly. Plus canopy mask set So, the full all-styrene version of the Trumpeter kit is included, with vastly superior decals. I ordered an Aires seat with etch straps at the same time and will buy a new IP if a pre-painted etch one is re-released/becomes available. And those Aires Quickboost Odd Rods IFF antennae which I missed recently. In the absence of an alternative MiG-21MF in our scale I would buy another if Hobby 2000 did an Arab boxing, with Egyptian and Syrian markings. Tony Edited 2 hours ago by Tony T forgot the mask set
csavaglio Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I've got the Red Fox cockpit set and it looks really good. The avionix/black box resin cockpit fits and looks good if you run across one. I'm surprised Quinta has only done the UM.
