The kit instructions show that the undercarriage has to be installed quite early in the build resulting in a breaking hazard during the course of construction. Not impossible at all, but I would love if someone had a work around so one could install it later. Any ideas? Would be glad to hear suggestions.

Aircraft in Pixels did a detail set that gets around this for the Italeri C202, but on a build on here (by dpgsbody55) it did not go well, but a work around was found it may well be applicable for the C205.

Every time I am tempted to by a 202 if I see it at a decent price (noooo way I’m paying more than £70) I read threads like this or the one linked above and am brought back to sanity.

amusingly, I saw one chap on Facebook who did a pretty decent job describe it as “a £50 kit in a £100 box”.

personally I think £50 is being charitable.

i know it will never happen but I long for Kotare to take over the modelling world and put overpriced nonsense like these Italeri kits out of our misery!

Out of curiosity, how much does say, a 1/32 Bf 109 K from Kotare cost compared to an Italeri MC.205?

About the same, actually - here in Australia, at least. I did get my Veltro kit for a deep discount, though, so that was actually much cheaper than my Kotare 109.

Thank you Kev. 🫡 Just as I thought.

What I don’t get is why some people keep complaining about Italeri MC.202 (and 205) prices while comparing them to obviously superior kits like Tamiya and Kotare.

Probably because Italeri charges Tamiya and Kotare prices but don’t deliver a Tamiya or Kotare level of product. But everbodies tastes differ. Some enjoy beating kits in to submission (several stunning builds of Italeri kits out there prove this point, and I tip my hat to those builders). Some like myself enjoy it when things fit with no fuss and don’t have panel lines that look something like the Death Star Trenches. And thats what makes things interesting, we are all different. I do have the Italeri Tornado 1/32 kits sitting in the stash purely because I sort of grew up alongside the real thing seeing them most days down Low Level doing their thing where I grew up so have maybe enough affection for the aircraft to drag myself through a build of them. But easily on the other hand I could also open the box and decide to sell them on and in fairness I’ve also done that with Tamiya and Kotare kits. I do wish though that Kotare did some of those Spitfire Sidewalls as seperate parts for ease of painting though like the air tanks etc.

@ade rowlands What I originally meant is that it’s unfair to say that Italeri charges Tamiya and Kotare’s prices because it simply doesn’t .

I couldn't agree more with Abe on his comments above.  Ridiculously priced here in the USA.  I'll use the aftermarket sets to dress up my PCM kits and won't look back.

Thanks for the input everyone

I chatted with Steve at Aircraft in Pixels and I am going to use their resin undercarriage (and a few more items from them) as soon as they restock. It has to be easier than building the Veltro with the leg struts all akimbo during construction. Happy modelling!
