Yaay! It's begun 

 

Good to see you start this one in earnest Kev. 

I overheard some chat explaining that the slight lip on the upper fuselage at the cowl joint is intentional since the full sized article has it.  

That's the sort of attention to detail that the DBMK team have gone to. 

 

Things look promising.

Looks a great kit for you to work your magic on Kev, the Sea Fury itself carries on the Typhoon/Tempest rugged looks that I like so much.

So I will be interested to see how it turns out, I just had to build the Hobbycraft kit as I like the look even though it is outside my modelling remit of WW2 only.

That looks great even if it's just tape holding things together. The wing/fuselage join looks like it shouldn't be an issue, at least in the second pic. It's certainly a better fit than I got on the Fisher one which I still need to finish.

I'll just reiterate in Kev's thread what the bloke who built the test Furies for DBMK said to me, viz "In 70 years of modelling, this is the best kit I have ever built."  And I don't think it was BS, though of course the definition of "best kit" is open to debate and interpretation.  I took him to mean the accuracy of assembly, ease of build if you like.

The top of the forward fuselage, including the windscreen cut-out, is a separate piece, but you'd never know. The arrangement of the wing-to-fuselage join looks a little fussy, but I have every confidence that it'll be no problem.

Just a quick word about likely pricing, During conversations at the stand at Telford, the kit will retail at around £90.00 (subject to confirmation) which means there will be massive deals to be had for such a great kit. 

 

With the Fury having many attractive airframes on a great subject, why not treat yourself to two? (subject to affordability of course).

I've been advised to not proceed further with this build until I've received the instructions, and it's fair to say that this kit is nearly impossible to build without them! There are so many anonymous detail parts (and even internal structural parts) that are non-obvious in terms of where and how they fit, that building it blind is about as effective as driving your car under the same circumstances.

 

That said, I have managed to clean up most of the major airframe parts, and get a few of the more obvious bits glued together. And the experience so far on reiterates for me what I've already said: the fit and overall engineering is really amazing.

And some work on the wheel bays before running out of identifiable parts:

 

 

They're quite cavernous on the Sea Fury, so all that glorious detail will not go unnoticed:

 

 

There's a lot of parts for piping and the like in the kit, so I'd assume that at least some of them are for the wheel bays. The surface detail is really exquisite! I think the shell ejection chutes could do with opening up, however.

 

So that's it for now. Hopefully the hiatus won't be long...

No construction without instructions?  I have two BBQ's that aren't quite right for likely the same thing!

Very likely story. Gotta just throw parts together and hope for the best. Don't need instructions, only vibes.
