LSP_Kevin Posted November 13, 2025 Posted November 13, 2025 And so it begins. I was approached earlier this year by Will at DBMK, with a proposal to build their upcoming Sea Fury kit as a build guide for KLP Publishing, with the aim of having it ready in time for the launch of the kit. Everything's a little behind schedule right now, but I finally received a pre-production sample of the kit a few days ago, fully complete apart from the retail packaging and the instructions. I decided to also run a build thread here, much as I've done for every LSP kit I've built since becoming a member, as the help and advice from the LSP community always makes a build better than it otherwise might be. I don't plan to start the build until I've received a digital copy of the instructions, however, though I suspect it's eminently buildable without them. Hopefully it won't be long, as I'm keen to get moving! In the meantime, here are a few photos of the runners and parts. More in the next post... Kev Mal_Belford, Greg W, mozart and 32 others 34 1
LSP_Kevin Posted November 13, 2025 Author Posted November 13, 2025 You can see in the previous photos that the airframe is rivetted throughout, and I think those photos offer a fair representation of what it looks like to the naked eye. In the close-up photos, they have a tendency to look a bit exaggerated, but are in fact beautifully petite and subtle - but also copious! You'll have to forgive the blurriness in some of these photos, as I'm struggling to control the depth of field on my new camera! The lower centre wing section also features some subtle raised rivets: Detail is also very good throughout: You only get a partial engine, which is more than enough for a build with a closed cowl: I believe DBMK is working on a 3D-printed upgrade set for this area, so that will be something to look out for if you want to expose the engine. I'm sure aftermarket providers will be looking at these things, too. You get two types of main landing gear doors, though I'm not sure at this stage what each is for: You also get two types of wheels - diamond tread and block tread: The instrument panel has subtle raised bezels, but no doubt other options are soon to follow: Instrument decals are provided. DBMK has taken an interesting approach with these cockpit detail parts, moulding them almost like cast resin parts: My spinner has suffered a bit of travel rash, due to all the sprues being lumped in a box together, but I assume the retail packaging will feature individual bags for the runners: More in the next post... LSP_Kevin Posted November 13, 2025 Author Posted November 13, 2025 The clear parts are few, as you might expect, but excellent: Despite being wrapped in packaging foam, my sliding canopy still managed to cop some minor abrasion: Clarity, however, superb, with little to no visible distortion. Two photo-etched frets are provided, one printed in colour, and the other as plain brass: So, this means you have two choices for the instrument panel: plastic and decals, or photo-etch. For the latter, you would presumably need to remove the raised details from the plastic part and apply the PE to the plastic frame. The kit decal sheet is massive! I believe from memory there are 5 schemes represented here, but I'm planning to build an RAN machine, naturally enough. The sheet is printed by Cartograf, and the details look amazing: So that's it for now. Once I have the instructions and painting guide in hand, I can start making some decisions, and get building! As I said earlier, hopefully it won't be too long. This build will of necessity be pretty close to straight out of the box, but perhaps I'll get a chance to build a tricked-out one down the track. Stay tuned! Kev Biggles87, Uncarina, mozart and 32 others 34 1
scvrobeson Posted November 13, 2025 Posted November 13, 2025 That looks like a fantastic kit that they've created. Hopefully it builds smoothly to produce a great result. Matt LSP_Kevin and Martinnfb 2

Of course, they weren't built by me, so anything's possible! Kev geedubelyer, KiwiZac, Clarkeeboy56 and 3 others 2 4
LSP_Kevin Posted November 13, 2025 Author Posted November 13, 2025 Here's a photo that I forgot to post earlier, that shows the one flaw I've found in the kit so far: I presume this is the rail for the sliding canopy, which as you can see in the photo has succumbed to some lateral pressure from the runners. Should in theory be an easy fix, but we'll see when we get there. Kev Mal_Belford, alaninaustria, Martinnfb and 3 others 6
geedubelyer Posted November 13, 2025 Posted November 13, 2025 Very eager to see this one being built Kev. It looked amazing on their stand. You mentioned the 3D printed engine earlier. I hope you don't mind me inserting a couple of snaps I took? The surgery required to install the assembly appears simple. Cheers, Guy denders, scvrobeson, Landrotten Highlander and 22 others 24 1
LSP_Kevin Posted November 13, 2025 Author Posted November 13, 2025 Yeah, that does look good! If I ever venture to a second build, I'd go with route for sure. Too good not to! Kev Martinnfb and geedubelyer 2
mozart Posted November 13, 2025 Posted November 13, 2025 I’m sure this will be the first of many builds of this fine kit, following Kev! geedubelyer, Martinnfb and LSP_Kevin 3
dutik Posted November 13, 2025 Posted November 13, 2025 Whoa! And it is styrene, not resin or 3D-whatsoever. Great! Great! Great! Regards - dutik LSP_Kevin, geedubelyer and Martinnfb 3
Ginja Ninja Posted November 13, 2025 Posted November 13, 2025 The parts look amazing with all that detail! I really hope DBMK do well out of this and we see more kits in the future. mozart, geedubelyer, LSP_Kevin and 1 other 4
dutik Posted November 13, 2025 Posted November 13, 2025 Well, would be nice to have this ready on sale for Xmas, marketingwise as well regarding modellers Xmas wishlists, but I guess we will have to wait till next year... Regards - dutik LSP_Kevin 1

The part may well straighten up on its own when clipped out? Edited November 13, 2025 by RCPlym Uncarina and LSP_Kevin 2
