That is wonderful news, and does this mean that is the future a 22/44 and Seafire 46 and 47 might be possible, and we can finally lay the old Matchbox/Revell  22/24 to a well earned rest

We appear ro be entering a Golden age of Large Scale modelling . Bring it on !

Absolutely it does Colin :yahoo:

All of the versions that you mentioned are on DBMK's list.

Apparently they are also planning on doing the single prop version which I understand was the norm?

Most certainly was the norm; the contra-prop version was a one-off trial fit iirc, but I'll have a check in my library 5o be sure.

OK, just had a quick dig.  My old but still useful Harleyford says that Griffon 85s with contra-rotating props were fitted to "several F.21s"  It goes on to give known examples, including: LA213, used by Rotol for experiments; LA215, which later reverted to the standard (for the mark) Griffon 61 (and presumably single 5-blade prop); LA216 and LA218, also used by Rotol; LA219, handling trials at A&AEE, then to 1 Sqn as JX:3; and LA232, which was used as a personal machine by two senior officers in succcession.

The "LA"- serialled aircraft on the Spitfire Production List, on this and and the next page thereof cover the F21; only a few were fitted with contra-props, although a Griffon 85 is not mentioned in respect of LA213 nor LA215.

So it seems to have been a relatively rare installation in a relatively rare mark of Spitfire.  Rare, but important as it was the first with the new, completely redesigned wing, which was also used on later Spitfire and Seafire variants. At one time a new name, "Victor", was considered.

I just hope they include a standard prop as well, as just the contra-prop may look good, but rather limits the available subjects.

Never heard of DBMK until recently with another couple of promised kits ...

Well ... frankly ... given that it's likely Kotare will get around to kiting these later Spitfire models eventually, will this turn out to be Kotare Standard? ... Scale Accurate? ...

If so, a bird in the hand and all that ... But I'll have a look at reviews before triggers are pulled!

Judging by the DBMK stand and their models on display there Rog, you can rest assured about the quality of what they produce. I don’t know what their instruction booklet is like, no examples have emerged yet as far as I’m aware.
