Why not paint your nose art, just like they did on the real thing? Hawaiian Air Depot premieres our first paint mask download for multicolor nose art

If you’re gonna build the biggest Spitfire you can, and you plan the prettiest one possible, consider a 1/24 Airfix Spitfire VIII from the USAAF 31st Fighter Group in Italy. Azure Blue undersides, pointy rudder, red spinner and wheel hubs, yellow wing stripes, fancy nose art? Show-stopper.

This download is out first to offer a mask design for multi-colored nose art: Lonesome Polecat from the 308th Fighter Squadron. It’s a Comprehensive Set, meaning it includes all the markings save stencils, and just about everything else you’ll need to mask: clear parts, wheel hubs, and prop tips.

The design includes national insignia, wing theater stripes, squadron codes, nose art, and victory markings. The nose art mask will allow you to mask the name and illustration in accurate proportions while allowing you to freehand color modulations. Just to make your Lonesome Polecat stand apart.

We've also started a brand new store: Hanger Queens at Hawaiian Air Depot. As the name suggests, Hanger Queens are worn out kits we use to design and test-fit our downloads. We've got more than we can build so we're selling off the extras at bargain prices. While no longer in new condition, they're complete and ready to build. As a bonus we'll include a free download or two designed with the very kit you purchase. Each is one-of-a-kind, and we hope to post a few a month, so keep checking back and grab them while you can!

Ah, that should be Hangar Queens!

Kev

Everyone keeps telling me that! I thought it was hilarious: Real airplanes live in hangars, old plastic models live in the closet? Get it? With the hangers?

Oh Dear God, have I lost it? Did I just make my first Lame Grandpa Pun?!?😂
