Zola25 Posted October 27 Posted October 27 (edited) Hey I came across these 14 (yes, fourteen) sets of 1/32 A-6 goodies from a new company called Wula Models?? - They look super nice on CAD at least. I especially love the wingfold mechanism All sets sold under this eBay listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/197625929535 /Niels Edited October 27 by Zola25 mydesign, allthumbs, stusbke and 6 others 4 5
geedubelyer Posted October 27 Posted October 27 Those look tremendous. The image of the full aircraft is mega! Great find for A-6 fans. Thanks for sharing Niels.

Pretty mindblowing for sure... this is the full model where these parts were all used.. . Buying all 14 sets is certainly not cheap but knowing they exist now, how can I possibly build my A-6A kit without them 😁 dustiepal, Royboy, Kagemusha and 10 others 9 4
geedubelyer Posted October 27 Posted October 27 That's the shot Niels. Wow! How good does that look? For anyone desiring the ultimate then perhaps the cost is worth it. I'm in the camp that would choose to enhance their favourite aircraft type to the hilt with aftermarket sets if it gave me what I wanted. Marcel111 and allthumbs 2
Dave Roof Posted October 27 Posted October 27 For the purists out there, those MER's are BRU-41's, and weren't used by the A-6A. In addition, they entered service right about the time the A-6E was being retired. The sway brace pads are also unique to the F/A-18. While there are a couple photos of BRU-41's with these pads on Intruders, they were designed for use on the Hornet. The sway brace pads used on MER's for the Intruder were round. jwest21 Posted October 27 Posted October 27 I believe the A-6A used the GRU-5 seat, however. At least during Vietnam, allthumbs and Marcel111 2
Zola25 Posted October 27 Author Posted October 27 (edited) But are the seats offered here GRU-5´s or GRU-7´s - Its hard for me to tell the difference other than the seat cushions.. When I built my A-6E I remember spending quite some time figuring it out, but I have since forgotten all of it 🙂 Edited October 27 by Zola25

The first GRU-7 seats featured a soft skinned headrest and the same spade shaped overhead pull handle of its predecessor, the GRU-5. Beginning in the early to mid 1980s, an extended, more contoured plastic head rest was introduced, along with the U shaped overhead pull handle. And this appears to be the configuration Wula Models has patterned. @jwest21 is correct in that these seats are more suitable to the A-6E and thus the A-6A labeling is misleading (although some rare exceptions are possible). Thanks.. pretty sure I have the GRU-5 seats from AMS Resin somewhere in the stash allthumbs 1

In addition, the MER’s, and most other ordnance mounted to Intruder wing pylons were tilted nose down. A purpose built adapter with asymmetrical pads was fitted between the pylon and store. This does not appear to be provided in the Wula set. Edit: disregard, the adapter and apparent “tilt” mentioned above were not relevant to MER installation. Instead it was more a feature on AERO-1D fuel tanks. My apologies! Edited October 27 by allthumbs Kagemusha 1

Which MER's were used on the A-6A during the Vietnam War? Thanks

Royboy Posted October 28 Posted October 28 What I'm waiting for is someone to do an EA-6A conversion kit for this model! Even better perhaps Trumpeter will find the time to do an EA-6B!! Tony T and Zola25 2
