tucohoward Posted October 16 Posted October 16 After dozens of 109s it might seem odd that I've never built a 190. I've been gently prodded by my friend, fellow LSP member, and amazing builder, Mal Belford, to finally build one. This came with a super generous offer to send me a kit which I am very excited about. It's the Revell of Germany A-8/R-2 Sturmbock. I am still trying to decide what scheme I am going to go with as my 190 references are minimal. I have a little time to sort that while I work on the cockpit, engine, and the riveting, of course:). Hopefully I won't make a mess of this thing haha. Cheers, Jay MikeMaben, Shoggz, Mal_Belford and 14 others 17
Mark P Posted October 16 Posted October 16 Will be intently following this build. Plenty of aftermarket available here, including decals. Eager to see the marking choice. I spoke frequently with Jerry Crandall about this variant, one of his favorites. Mark Proulx Mal_Belford and tucohoward 2
Mal_Belford Posted October 16 Posted October 16 (edited) Hey buddy. That kit is in good hands Jay. do youre thing on it....and im very confident that this will go smooth....and no you wont mess it up, as im pretty sure about that hey. But as i usually say when trying new grounds...start dryfit early..dryfit..dryfit...then glue. but hey, the journey and a late night reading have started for me. so go ahead Jay, do your thing. Also...many LSP members will provide with good resources and pics when asking, included myself and if i know about something specific. Edited October 16 by Mal_Belford tucohoward 1

Gazzas Posted October 17 Posted October 17 Nice choice! I'll get the first one in. Willi Maximowitz. Mal_Belford and tucohoward 2
Greif8 Posted October 17 Posted October 17 Looking forward to following your build Jay. I think you will enjoy the kit; I built this a couple of builds ago and thought it was excellent value for the money. Ernest Mal_Belford and tucohoward 2
Troy Molitor Posted October 17 Posted October 17 Another build to be following closely. Show us the way forward Jay. tucohoward 1

tucohoward Posted October 17 Author Posted October 17 Is anyone aware of decals for this particular plane? Haven't found any yet. All of my Luftwaffe number masks are the rounded font versus the squarer type on this one. This is an Eduard profile from one of their 1/48 boxings. Jay Dany Boy and Mal_Belford 2
Isar 30/07 Posted October 17 Posted October 17 Jay, As far as I recall, there are some green numbers in my decal stash. I think, they were from the Pacific Coast Models Ta 152. Not sure if ZM had them in their Ta 152 kits as well. Let me check my stash this weekend. Reimund Mal_Belford and tucohoward 2
nmayhew Posted October 17 Posted October 17 i don't know whether that profile is accurate, or if it is your final choice, but beware a number of these 190s had the armoured glass triangle sections next to the windscreen as well as the armoured glass 'blinkers' on the side of the sliding hood if your subject has those triangles then your only choice is the clear resin upgrade set by BlackDog which I would advise against anyway since a) it's not that super crisp and clear in the first place and b) the resin will go cloudy yellow in a year two (I have multiple sets bought at different times and this has happened to all of them another option for you if you want an A-8 with the long barrelled MG151 20mm in the wings (which I always thought looked cooler) but with the Sturmjager armour / blinkers etc is to cross kit with their A-8 / Nachtjager kit; there are a fair number of subject options for both, so you won't be consigning one 'half of the trade' to the bin etc anyway, good luck with whatever you choose Nick Greif8 and tucohoward 2

I feel like I could hand paint the personal emblem on the cowling if needed so if I could find the numbers that would help. Jay
Mal_Belford Posted October 17 Posted October 17 (edited) Jay. Considered masks? put a request, if someone could help you. I know one company.. https://www.1manarmy.be/ been myself in contact with them, if they can they will do it. But its in europe. Edited October 17 by Mal_Belford

I am not set on any scheme yet. I am definitely lacking in 190 knowledge so I appreciate all info. I do see from the kit parts that there is only the single-thickness windscreen option so I will pay attention to that while searching for a subject. Jay Mal_Belford and nmayhew 2
