Yes!  Don't know why but something about a bloated MiG-21 that was built as a one-way nuclear strike aircraft, at the height of the cold war, just appeals to me in some weird Dr. Strangelove-ish way.

I know, right?

I have the Eduard 1/48th Profipack SMT for now, but a bigger Hunchback wouldn't be turned away, not one bit.

Lottsa cool schemes to chose from ...

Although if that's a Lancer as opposed to a "standard" MiG-21, I believe they were quite heavily modified/updated. Not that that's a problem, so long as it's included in any series of releases.

Nice pic!

I'd say that choosing a Spitfire as their move back into 32 makes perfect sense, especially if you consider price positioning. There is a huge gap that Eduard can use for their model.  Tamiya and Kotare are usually 120 euros and above, Hobby Boss and Revell are below 40 euros so if they make a good model and sell it somewhere between 60 and 80 euros it can turn into a cash cow for the company.

As for the 3rd model, here is my vote...

Don’t know about that.  I bought my last Tamiya IX for $95USD.   How cheap do we think Eduard’s version will be?  I’m guessing it will be well north of $100.

Over here (Europe), a Tamiya 1/32 Spitfire in Europe costs between 120 and 140 Euro.

It would make sense that Eduard’s version will cost less for us Euronuts than for the tariffied crowd beyond the waves. :punk:

I´ll go with Quang here!

In one of their podcasts, Mr Sulc himself told us that the Spitfire Mk.IX /VIII was originally intended to be in 1/32!

Almost all CAD-work and research was done and the next step was cutting metal, but they got cold feet, and settled for the 1/48th scale instead.

So a big chunk of the expensive work is already done, research is done, "only" cutting som metal and printing decals remain, reducing the total cost.

With this in mind I believe Eduard will price this kit somewhere between the cheap, but quite good Revell and the more expensive Tamiya and Kotare.

Of course It will be a "Limited Edition" or Royal Class first, then a Profipack, then a cheap Weekend edition and an even cheaper  "Overtrees" box with only the sprues, in line with all their releases.

I have enough Spitfires (in all scales) to last several lifespans, but hey, who can resist a new Spitfire kit?

Not me, thats for sure, I´ll buy at least 2-3, probably more, If the markings are good!

Nothing wrong with more choice I guess. And judging by previous releases it's either this, or nothing. I'd prefer a better than Revell, less complex/expensive like Tamiya. I also would love them to tackle some other versions that you can't get now without even more €€€ like the IXe and XVIe high-back.

It could also provide a better & cheaper base for things like LFD conversions? I'll wait and see what it's like.

Of course there are things I'd like more, (F6F!), but that's just a personal preference, and I'm not talented enough to start my own modelling company :D

I guess, that all of their 1/32 will be in their new line with printed parts, or ready for them.

Well the good news is Eduard is working on three new 1/32 scale kits, each of which will morph into various versions and marking options.  As noted above these kits will likely incorporate 3D printed parts that are much more detailed than than even the best injected molded plastic.

As far as the identity of the third mystery candidate my guess is either a Bf 109 or Mig 21, but I noticed that two Mig 21 pilots are scheduled to speak at the upcoming E-Day event.

A MiG-21 would be awesome.  An SMT (with the requisite RN-28 can of liquid sunshine) would be amazing but honestly, any version would make me happy.

Remember Eduard are releasing a new tool 1:48 MiG-21F-13, but I'm all for a 1:32 bigger version of any submark. I'd buy every Profipack Fishbed release.

Sadly I don't think they ever will, but if Eduard would scale up their 1/48 Zlin Trener/Akrobat series  I for one would be a happy bunny. They are mostly not military, so I doubt it will ever happen,  but it's nice to dream.
