I have been dreaming of Eduard scaling their Mig-21 up to 1/32!!

Cheers

+1! Same here ,brother . I've built 5 of them including the -21bis and yes I did correct the nose[ courtesy of Cold War Studios]. Ya gotta figure the decal options /paint schemes would keep us [the companies and us the builders ] busy for quite some time.

A P-51B/C would do it for me.  So many color options for the B's.  The jets aren't really my thing but a MIG 21 in the hands of some of you would be cool to see happen.  Rather perplexed on the Spits, however.  I would think a lot of us already have the Tamiya kits in our stash.

A Wildcat, Hellcat and a P-38 would also be really nice.

I find it interesting [and a little strange that over on Rumourmonger, that the Eduard spitfire announcement isn't getting quite the response I'd expect. Usually anything "spitfire gets a rubber stamp of approval, though I realize there isn't a big "big scale " contingent over there, but still.

Makes sense for them to do a MK9 as they have done a stella job on it in 48th as have they with p-51 .Both offer lots of color schemes and boxing options which appears to be eduards marketing/production style . It will no doubt have the trade mark revits and both kits will no doubt be in the new hybrid style they have annouced with cockpits wheels and smaller bits in 3d . Hopefully they will be considerably cheaper than the tamiya offering . As for the next kit i hope they dont do a 109G /K as their 48th ones are a bit of let done compared to the Mustang and Sitfires .

I believe that most of the CAD work for the Eduard 1/32 Spitfire Mk IX was completed prior to Tamiya announcing their own kit. That, combined with the less than stellar reception their 1/32 Bf 109E kit received, convinced them to shelve the project. They've clearly changed their minds about 1/32 scale, but also figured that the path of least resistance to re-entering the market is to finish and release the Spitfire. It's risky, but I think there's room for more than one top-shelf Spitfire IX in the 1/32 marketplace.

I hate to say this guys but I don't think that whether we buy the Eduard kit or not it won't make much difference to their sales. I have built a PCM IX as well as having a 1/32 Tamiya VIII & IX and a Revell and a 1/24 Airfix VIII & IX in the stash. I also have a Laminar Flow Mk XIV slowly making it's way down the production line. So I think I might have enough Spitfires. Then when Eduard release their IX I'll probably get sucked in with box art or something and add it to the pile. When we were all speculating on an earlier post I suggested that MiG-21 was a no brainer because of the research and tooling they have done on their 1/48 kit. If you can use existing data you're quids in.

Their Bf.109E's weren't horrible ... but they weren't all that fantastic either ... Cyber Hobby's effort easily outshone theirs.

The only point of difference in Eduard's favour, being the E-1

Mould engineering and detail quality has moved on a long way since those days - So whatever they do, it would want to be sharp!

Sharp detail, Sharp fit and finish, sharp pricing ... because Tamiya's kit, though nearly 20 years old now, is still king of the hill.

... and 10 to the dozen that Kotare have the Mk.IX firmly in their sights at some point in the not to distant future.

I'll agree with ya . The pricing might be a bit of a sticking point as Tami spits aren't going for a lot of money these days[ though they ain't super cheap either].

I would love a large scale Wildcat!!!  If they went the Mig-21 route, I'd love to see an SMT. It's just different enough to be unique.

Yes!  Don't know why but something about a bloated MiG-21 that was built as a one-way nuclear strike aircraft, at the height of the cold war, just appeals to me in some weird Dr. Strangelove-ish way.

Yeah, the pilots didn't think much of it either. The Mikoyan design bureau thought so much of the concept that they developed the MiG-29 SMT. That one isn't going to win any beauty contests any time soon.
