Take note that they[Eduard] are still expanding their MiG-21 line up [albeit in 48th] so they ain't done by a long shot! yes, a Mig-15 would definitely fill a big hole in the ranks. thierry laurent and Martinnfb 2
RBrown Posted September 5 Author Posted September 5 Hopefully Eduard is diligently perusing Monforton's Spitfire MK. IX & XVI Engineered, and noting the distinction between the scale drawings and the accompanying photographs. The Tamiya kit faithfully replicates the drawings but drawings are not reality. Maybe Eduard can do better. Martinnfb 1

RBrown Posted September 5 Author Posted September 5 It is not the shape but the surface details that could be improved. thierry laurent and Martinnfb 2

John1 Posted September 5 Posted September 5 What an odd choice from a business perspective. The Tamiya IX is one of the best 32nd scale kits out there and I'd wager that anyone who is a fan of the Spitfire and into LSP's has built at least one of them. I've built two. Even if Eduard's Spit is amazing, it simply won't be worth purchasing from my perspective. I'm done with the IX. So many other subjects they could have opted for that truly have been neglected by other manufacturers. How bizarre.... Stefano, KUROK, cbk57 and 4 others 6 1

berneckir Posted September 5 Posted September 5 I have a few of the Tamiya kits, but if Edward issued a kit with correct early wing cannon bulges, I’d get one. To me, that was the biggest disappointment in the Tamiya kit and resin replacements are not drop in replacements because of the shrinkage I’ve seen on the sets I purchased.

Eduard had already done a fair amount of work on the IX, and there are a lot of people who haven't bought the Tamiya or giant Airfix, neither of which make much money for Eduard. There's probably a big market for an upgrade over the Revell offering — especially in surface detail — without faffing with engines, magnetic covers and Tamiya Europe prices. Still hoping the new October announcement is a MiG-21, as Eduard are by far the best-placed to tackle it in 1:32. Their 1:48 offerings are wonderful (I have 6-7 of them) but just too petite. A MiG-15UTI and -17F would also be nice. Converting a Fagot into a Midget has been rewarding but very time-consuming and the Trumpy Fresco is a bit of a joke, yet such an important historical type. dennismcc Posted September 5 Posted September 5 For me it is something that I will pass up on, I have the Tamiya Spitfire, plus the Airfix 1/24 scale kit and even a newly built PCM Mk.IX so this will not affect my bank balance at all. Cheers Dennis Martinnfb 1

What would be its selling price to make it attractive over Tamiya, assuming it will be on par with quality? Stefano Alan P and Martinnfb 2
Reuben L. Hernandez Posted September 5 Posted September 5 That takes some brass ones, to go up against Tamiya with the Spitfire. It would have been great to see a Mk.22/24, now that's a no brainer along with the P-51B. Personally, no interest in the Spitfire offering, but the P-51B, oh yeah! A MiG would be awesome but if Eduard sticks to the same business plan they used to decide on the Spit .IX, we’ll probably see them announce a Bf-109G-6. THAT wouldn't surprise me not that I want that to happen[ heavens to Betsy we got enough already] This is MY take overall, we[ the model companies] need to get out of ww2 mode[ just a little bit], not entirely and start looking at other subjects / time frames. I know ww2 subjects sell and there are subjects not yet done. but I suspect the other stuff would too IF it was out there in the line -up. Just look at the amount of postings on this thread alone[ for example] for a big scale MiG and we are NOT the only group either, far from it , Again this is MY view point. Martinnfb and John1 2
