Thanks for getting around to those 109E Gear Bay Inserts. Order placed. Now how about some parts to get a Fleet Air Arm Corsair out of the Tamiya kits and some Louvered Breather Plates for the Tamiya P-51D so an RAF Mustang can be made.

Thanks for the order, I did not draw the inserts, just printed and marketing them. As with everything time is at a premium, I know you would like these but I am just a one man operation.

For the FAA CORSAIR, what parts are actually required, I know about the clipped wingtips, are there other items that are required?

Any detailed help would be appreciated

Yes, FAA Corsairs had vents on either side of the fuselage behind the cockpit and on the bottom of the fuselage, this due to the carbon monoxide problem in the cockpit.  The radios and controls in the cockpit I believe were British as was the seat harness.  There is some talk the certain deliveries came with U.S. seat harness but I don’t have any real confirmation on just what those were.
 

There were also two types of shortened wingtips.  If you’ve seen Dana Bell’s Corsair No. 2, he uses what’s called the short wingtip and the short-short wingtip, the latter reducing the span of the FAA Corsairs even further.

 

I can provide specifics on these based on what Dana Bell outlines in his book and I do have access to Corsair blueprints via Aircorps Library.

I believe that none of the British ordered F4U-1Ds came with the Rocket Stubs under the wings. So that would require some work to the 1D Kit part or whether it would suffice to get a hold of the wing parts from a 1A kit and substitute them in, probably deleting the under wing light. Don’t recall other than the holes and strengthening plates for them what detail is on the 1D underwing kit part.

If you are able to send me some information that would be great. I have quite a few Corsair books but not those ones, cannot seem to find them currently either in the U.K. All information helps me make sure I understand what is needed and then I do not miss obvious things.

+1! Now all we need is a new Ki- 43 40 go with it. I can't believe nobody has done one yet, the Hasegawa one is WAAAY out of date.

That would be great. Still, this kit has a certain charm. Not much in the way of AM (beside masks and decals)----just the PE set (which is actually pretty good) and resin wheels. This will be a nice add with the correct gun ports, cowl flaps, and a nice exhaust
