Sam_D Posted August 20, 2025 Posted August 20, 2025 (edited) Sooo figured Das Werk's new Messerschmitt P.1101 may as well be my first build log here on LSP. The kit arrived this very second from BNA here in Melbourne. I'll post some sprue shots shortly but it looks pretty tidy in the box. 4 marking/build options, which I'll also get to, too. A couple of well known colour pics of the P.1101 proto exist which is pretty cool: Edited August 20, 2025 by Sam_D spelling Fanes, Shoggz, AngryJazz_Models and 16 others 19
AngryJazz_Models Posted August 20, 2025 Posted August 20, 2025 Ahhhhhhh yes! I will be excited to follow this one! My kit is still sitting at MBK on pre order, just waiting for them to release my order (had a few other items im waiting for stock). Sam_D 1
LSP_Kevin Posted August 20, 2025 Posted August 20, 2025 Nice one, Sam. Not my cup o' tea, but it's not a tank, so you have my full support! Kev Rick Griewski, Westland WhirlWill, geedubelyer and 1 other 1 3
VintageEagle Posted August 20, 2025 Posted August 20, 2025 (edited) Great. I’m looking forward to seeing your WIP. I have ordered the same kit. The prototype at Oberammergau was tail heavy and was supported by some kind of hydraulic lift: https://i0.wp.com/plane-encyclopedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Messerschmitt-P1101-7.jpeg?ssl=1 If I remember correctly from wartime Messerschmitt documents, a wooden mockup engine was installed and that was probably the reason why it was tail heavy. Does anyone know if this is available in 1/32? I could only find a different type used to lift bombs. Edited August 20, 2025 by VintageEagle monthebiff, Landrotten Highlander and scvrobeson 2 1
Macbain Posted August 20, 2025 Posted August 20, 2025 Also interested and will be following along. Details of how it is to build would be interesting too, never built a Das Werk kit.
scvrobeson Posted August 21, 2025 Posted August 21, 2025 Very cool. Didn't know that it had been released already, I'm looking forward to this one. Matt
Sam_D Posted August 22, 2025 Author Posted August 22, 2025 (edited) Build starts with the engine - Not sure how much I want to add here, but for now building and painting this out of box. I've got some 3D printed hose fittings, so may add some greeblies when I work out what configuration I want the model in (ie why bother adding stuff if I end up closing the engine cowling!) Engine isn't too bad, detail wise. Lots of halves to join and fill Some location holes needed covering, so just added some squares of Evergreen 10 thou card Just pressed together to see how it all looks - not too bad. Threw together the engine trolley too which is a nice inclusion Components painted up with MRP and AK colours Some simple weathering with Tamiya dark brown panel liner for now. May add more if I choose to display it on the model Edited August 22, 2025 by Sam_D Image links being jerks Rick Griewski, LSP_Ray, LSP_K2 and 22 others 25
LSP_Kevin Posted August 22, 2025 Posted August 22, 2025 Nice work, Sam. Image links are indeed jerks. How good are those Tamiya panel line washes, though? (Rhetorical question; they're superb!) Kev Sam_D 1

This type of lift was released by U-models in France but it looks very few were actually produced before the company closed its doors. I only saw it once when I had the opportunity to purchase it with other rarities from the same producer: a US WW2 propeller carrying trailer and an Arado 196 trailer. Sam_D and VintageEagle 1 1
AngryJazz_Models Posted August 22, 2025 Posted August 22, 2025 Really nice work Sam! Does look like a very nice engine out of the box 😊 Also just confirmation for my kit, so saving your log for some tips and tricks 😉 Sam_D 1

With the help of your ID of this lift, I found the following (source: Rob de Bie's website https://robdebie.home.xs4all.nl/me163/equipment40.htm😞 And ReScale of Ukraine has at least a 3D model. But I am not sure if he also offers printed parts or if it has to be printed at home: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/5vDL38?album_id=8896489 Has anyone experience with ReScale / Artstation? The engine looks great Sam. Have you decided what version you will build? The V1 prototype at Oberammergau had a wooden mockup engine that was probably painted all black. I can't see any way of buying anything from that artist on Artstation, even though he has an interesting selection of designs "For 3D printing with UV Resin": https://www.artstation.com/rescale_nick/albums/8896489 Hopefully he's on Cults3D too, which is much easier to deal with.
