Well if any of you gentleman in the USA don’t feel they will able to get to your 1/32 BF 109’s please let me know. I could find a home for it with me. Some very impressive collections on this forum.

One Lesson I need to learn is Not to buy all the AM bits for a project, until I am about to definitely start it.

 

If the kit is without AM and you go off the idea you can sell it easily without loss.

 

If you have created a project with a stack of AM resin etc to go with it, you will never recoup the total cost as it adds up and newer bits come out.

 

For example I have a Thunderchief I picked up for £70 that now has every bit of resin etched decals and  masks and corrections, which probably adds up to £220 but there’s now a newer reskit pit….. no one wants to pay £220…

 

I've just sold a Revell Bf109 G2/4 and had forgotten the box contained every conceivable piece of AM - including the superb Airscale set for it!

 

I priced it on the kit only....

Am teetering at around the 100 mark, but ought to build and sell it down to 80.

I keep an inventory of AM extras on my tablet and avoid thinking of how much I've spent over the past twenty years. 

 

Am only buying for in-progress projects now, but having said that the "core essentials" in the unbuilt collection are already heavily dressed up with etch & 3DP exotica which seem to come and go.

 

Never masks though, which are strictly buy-as-required — I can't fathom out how stores like Hannants can carry such a huge range of them. Masks seem to form about a third of the items in its new arrivals or future releases bulletins.

STASH Injected retail tower here has touched 9ft tall, 3ft wide. Plus! Another 6ft x 2ft. Plus! Another 4ft x 3ft.

Plus... Several home 3d printed articles. Overall, to be honest, I have lost count. I think it is definitely over 100 now in just over a year of returning to the hobby. 🙄😬

Not much to see because they’re all boxed up from the move 5 years ago.  It’s just easier to store them in the boxes instead of displaying them.   But shelf #1 I put up.  

 

And then along the other wall is shelf #2 hiding up high and almost behind the duct work. 

 

And inside the finished basement up I have another box with a stash piled high on it.  In total, around 225 kits.  
Now here’s the kicker….I’ve gotten back into RC airplanes.  Haven’t touched a model in almost 2 years.  If my wife would ever slow down our travels, vacations, trips and stay at home for a slightly extended time and not turn our home into an entertainment venue for family birthdays and gatherings I would take time to list some more on eBay and here.  
I did that last year and I could not believe the space it required to collect boxes, store boxes and packing materials and a “shipping center” set up to pack it all.  
I had so much I finally had to haul the collection of packing materials to the dump just so I could have some sanity of not living in shipping central. 

But I’ve come to the conclusion there’s just not enough time left in my lifetime to build that many models and my small stash of RC kits I want to build and put in the air.  Besides, my space is very limited.  Who needs 6 more F-16 kits after I’ve already built 9?   Why do I need 9 F-4 Phantom kits?  2-1/32 B-17 and B-25 kits?  No idea where I would put them after I built them anyway.  
I’ll save a few select kits I know I want to build one day.

I rather enjoy finding kits that I didn't realize I had; same issue with books, but far worse than the kits.

Sincerest and most humble apologies for this feeble and pathetic photo. To make it even worse - the unavailable He111 and Ju88 are only in there because they were once-in-a-blue-moon eBay listings which I grabbed when I could. Both kits were bought from the same seller and came with Big Ed sets.

 

Sorry, fellas. I'll get my coat and see myself out .......

How about we all list our book doubles on the Trader’s board. And all the reference books for kits that we sold; the never build kits

I apologize if this one has already been brought up in this thread. 

 

I've heard legend of a US kit-collector that had 250,000 (not a typo) kits in his stash. The fella must have had one HELL of a big house, is all I can say. 

 

If he made one a day (very unlikely, I know), I think that would last him approximately 9 lifetimes. If I had to build all those, I think it would take me roughly "more time than our universe will exist".....

I usually sell off the doubles as soon as I can. As to books, it's true that I started out buying them to assist with details on my models, but that soon morphed into a separate hobby, wherein I buy the books just to look at, sometimes gleaning information on filthy or wrecked armor. When I croak, my good friend will probably sell a ton of them.
