Hawaiian Air Depot Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 (edited) Earlier this summer we released a few downloadable mask designs for the Tamiya F4U-1A Corsairs. Their success reminded us just how popular the 1/32 Tamiya kits are. And also reminded us we've been meaning to show the Tamiya Mustangs some love, too. So here they are, four new masks designs for the Tamiya P-51s: our Essential Mask set gets you all the basics for any WWII or Korean Mustang, while ETO ID and D-Day Invasion stripes add markings you might need for your 8th or 9th AF P-51s. The fourth set provides masks all for the fuselage panels so you can easily create the dissimilar effects seen on unpainted Mustangs. Later we'll do some markings for specific to ETO and MTO Mustangs, but soon we'll release our latest Styrene Sheet Metal set. Our SSM line features designs to cut detail parts from styrene sheets on the same machine you're using to cut your masks. Think of it as 21st Century scratchbuilding. Rather than offering new versions of the same parts all the aftermarket companies are making, we try to find stuff for our SSM line that you won't find anywhere else. We're especially excited about our upcoming set for the Tamiya Mustang. It will include parts you can cut from .005-.015 styrene sheet to model the interior canopy rails and all the different versions the pilot's head armor. Did you know there were at least four different versions? Neither did we, until a prominent Mustang expert shared some research with us. We're almost certain none of this has been previously offered by a kit or aftermarket company in 1/32. Well, except for us, because our set for the 1/32 Revell Mustang includes them, too. If 2025 is still Corsair Summer for you, don't worry: we're planning to drop a few more designs before September, including Essential Mask Sets for the Birdcages and F4U-1Ds. We'll also do some addendum masks for Blackburn's VF-17, much like we did for Boyingtons VMF-214. Then we'll do some addendums for all the cool geometric markings seen on F4U-1Ds. We're planning Franklin and Bunker Hill for sure. What else? Shangri La and Intrepid? Okinawa checkerboards? We take requests! We've also got 1/32 Revell Hurricanes coming soon and shark mouths for the 1/24 Airfix Spitfire VIII. We've been working on these for a while, and we won't lie; a good shark mouth mask is a tricky design. When we perfect it, we'll let you know, and then we'll go to town on AVG sharkmouths for the 1/32 GWH Hawks. As always, our new releases-- currently our Mustangs sets-- are on sale until we release something else. Then those goes on sale. But even the non-sale stuff is a great bargain; check it all out at Hawaiian Air Depot. Mahalo! Edited July 12, 2025 by Hawaiian Air Depot TankBuster, coogrfan, Johnny Cloud and 1 other 4
