I like what i am seeing so far. It's a shame that we don't have a Hellcat kit on par with things like the Tamiya or Kotare offerings, but we go to war with the kits we have, not the ones we want or would like to have.

Rodney Williams built a spectacular F6F-3 from this kit many years ago. Descriptions of the build are probably buried around here somewhere. I do recall the most labour-intensive part of the build was the wheel wells. Surprisingly complicated to re create from scratch.

Tolga, have you given any consideration to using the Trump wings on this beautiful build?

Cheers

Thanks Alan

I had heard of this option. I think a modeler had done it. But since I didn't have Trumpy's kit, I didn't bring it up.
Also, because of the new customs rules set by the Turkish government this year, I can't bring a kit by mail from abroad. They set a limit of 30 EUR including freight. In these circumtenses I can only bring a pair of wheels. :ninja:

The only way is to ask my friends living abroad or wait for it to come to the local hobby shops here. This place has unfortunately fallen under the control of the Dark side
So I am working on old Hasegawa s wings now. Tomorrow I will share the result.

I've also got a Hasegawa F6F-5, as well as the Trumpeter kit, was planning on mating the Has fuselage and Trumpeter wings, but man, the design concept between the two kits is really different. I've looked and fiddled, but the chord and wing root differences are way different.....not being sure if the effort is worth it, I've shelf-of-doomed it for the moment...

Hah!  Gaps from the 1970s!  Nothing that a bit of strip styrene and superglue won't fix.  LOL, you'd probably have to coat the entire model in superglue to remove all the 1970's from that kit.

I started working to fill this gap.

Looking good, those wheel wells mods are looking good, as to the gaps just some minor modelling skills required.

Having recently gotten (albeit a different boxing) of this kit I'm following along -I did get a Trumper kit (2nd hand) and will see how and what a kitbash might be doable.... I'd love to do it with folded wings.

Looks really nice!

Thanks

Nice work, Tolga.  The detail work in the wheel wells lifts it a lot.

Cheers,

Michael
