LSP_K2 Posted May 19 Posted May 19 Once again a kit that I'm trying to finish for a show here in September. Much has already been done. The single best book I have on the Pak 40, here, shows variations that this kit does not seem to cover, so I'll not be adding anything extra. Oddly, two gun shields are included in kit, but one is not mentioned anywhere in the instructions. Three different wheel set styles are also included and I have opted for the 6 spoke versions, which I believe is correct for my variation. Breach block does not completely cover the breach, but that may have been an error on my part that I'll now need to resolve. Christoffer Lindelav, LSP_Ray, firefly7 and 1 other 3 1
LSP_K2 Posted May 20 Author Posted May 20 Ejector pin marks are the order of the day here, and will require some time to remove, as many already have been. TankBuster, Iain and Christoffer Lindelav 3
LSP_K2 Posted May 20 Author Posted May 20 Spokes on the wheels will need a wee bit of filler here and there. Javlin1, Iain, Christoffer Lindelav and 1 other 4
LSP_K2 Posted May 20 Author Posted May 20 Muzzle brake (two options here) needs some pin marks addressed before final assembly can proceed, but with the rifled inserts should look great. Iain and TankBuster 2
LSP_K2 Posted May 20 Author Posted May 20 Brake drums are pretty much finished now, but one has already gone missing! Javlin1 and Shoggz 2
LSP_K2 Posted May 20 Author Posted May 20 Legs (trails) are now more or less completely assembled but still need some minor cleanup of smaller parts. I’m holding off on the gun cleaning rods until I can confirm the color needed. Javlin1, Zola25, Shoggz and 5 others 8
LSP_Ray Posted May 20 Posted May 20 Nice progress, Kev! The ejector pin marks on the shields: will you be able to see much of them when you sandwich them together? Haven't received my kit yet; I ordered it with the Messerschmitt P.1101 and it isn't out yet. LSP_K2 1

LSP_K2 Posted May 21 Author Posted May 21 Front support area is coming along nicely now. I'll hold off adding the hydraulic lines until everything else is added and cleaned up (mold parting lines, etc.). LSP_Ray and Shoggz 2
LSP_K2 Posted May 21 Author Posted May 21 The provided aluminum barrel is sweet and a dead fit to the breach and muzzle, so I'll be using it instead of the plastic parts. Christoffer Lindelav and LSP_Ray 2
LSP_K2 Posted May 21 Author Posted May 21 With one set of shields now built, the otherwise visible pin marks are no longer an issue. They may have not been all that big of a deal to begin with, but why take chances. Sasha As and LSP_Ray 2
LSP_K2 Posted May 21 Author Posted May 21 The six spoke main wheels should have six discs in brake drum area, but these are absent. I'll add them with punched pieces. The six holes in the rim itself will also be added. dutik, TankBuster and LSP_Ray 3
LSP_K2 Posted May 23 Author Posted May 23 Wheels now doctored up. I still need to drill holes in the drum discs though, which I'll do once these are completely dry. The crazing from the liquid cement will be removed with some Scotch-Brite.
