Though of course, 1/32 first and foremost but these Border kits, regardless of scale, have my interests exited!

Imagining this 1/35 SBD-3/4 with a 1/35 island and flight deck of a Yorktown, Enterprise, Hornet or Wasp... Lexington or Saratoga and Even a Light Carrier, Independence Class or Casablanca class Escort Carrier...etc for the SBD-4.... MMMMM... Makes the difference for me fried brain!!! LoL

Damn, positive rivets...etc...sh.t, why is this not 1/32 happenings? LoL

On the fence and still considering the fight!!! Hmmmmm

Does it have raised[positive] rivets, I can't tell from the pics? I believe it's supposed to[maybe wrong on that].

I don’t care for the Mustang but I’m in for the SBD. :m0152:

Why not? Border Models is obviously trying to launch a new trend.
Personally I think 1/35 is a perfect size for single-engine WWII planes. Not as large as 1/32, yet more manageable than 1/48. Furthermore you’re not flooded with aftermarket items with each new release.

If done well, the SBD would be a great seller. Can’t wait to put my hands on it :D

Can someone explain to me why they chose 1:35? I'm assuming it makes sense somehow but it's not apparent to me.

Maybe because armour is in 1/35 scale, they want everything in the same scale.

Zero love for or interest in 1/35 aircraft, but re positive rivets, one of their big problems is that unlike ‘divot rivets’ they are an absolute sod to replace if lost as a result of sanding etc during construction

If you want smooth, go Barbie! SBDs wouldn’t be dauntless without positive rivets. :P

Lol

I was merely pointing out that raised detail - and it’s not limited to rivets obviously - has associated with it a particular set of problems which are much more difficult to rectify

I have a bunch of Kotare Spits btw and as excellent as that kit is, I still don’t think they nailed the rivets - just too big, and once you put a wash on them (something that would not be my style) they look even more ‘in your face’.

But anyway, pleased for those who are pleased etc etc etc

I built the rather good Trumpeter 1/32 kit but it looked like a plucked chicken when I finished. But hey, it’s only me

It is just what they do, the Lancaster seems to be the exception as it was mostly done in 1/32.  Otherwise everything they have done is in 1/35.  It looks to me like they were already doing 1/35 and decided to just go constant scale.  Is there any other motivation?  Who knows.  I have not bought any of their kits yet, so many models, so little time, but I like the Dauntless and will look at the release version.  I also like the Japanese dive bomber they did.  But it there is a 1/32 version of the same kit which I think is as good or better I will probably buy the 1/32 kit.  But am open minded.  I just have bought fewer plane kits of late because I have enough of them on hand.  Last year I think I purchased 5 LSPs and have not touched any of them yet.  I am working on a 1/32 F-15E but I have had that on hand for longer.
