Aerophile Posted May 14 Posted May 14 Pardon this question if it’s been asked before. I tried to find an answer in the archives. Can the P51B canopy and exhaust for the Trumpeter kit be utilized for the Revell kit? Thanks
Aerophile Posted May 14 Author Posted May 14 Never mind everyone A little more research and I would have found my answer . Ha Not sure about that old saw “the only dumb question is the one you don’t ask” thanks anyway!
MikeC Posted May 14 Posted May 14 Possibly, but why would you want to? Not being facetious, just interested. Martinnfb 1
Martinnfb Posted May 14 Posted May 14 x2 what Michael said. To answer your question. The spine of the Revell is significantly narrower (as it should be) then the TRP. one, which places the kidney windows more apart, you would have to narrow the gap. Your movable part (Malcolm or framed) would be then too wide, without the possibility to fix it. Front windshield section fits and exhaust can be fitted as well, with little adjustment, but the nose on the Revell is misshapen too. I tried and failed, then tried again, using the never D from Revell and a modified spine from TRP, ending up creating something completely new and scary. Aerophile Posted May 14 Author Posted May 14 Yep. Thanks Mike/Martin After I took a better look and thought about the differences it was pretty clear. I also dug a bit deeper into Ironman’s conversion and came to understand better what was going on. we live and learn…..hopefully Thanks again

I know because I tried it, and it wore me out on the project so bad I gave it away. Martinnfb 1

The exhaust is probably workable but that big width diff in the cockpit makes the canopy a no go. The only reason I was curious is I figured the Aerocraft canopy had to be better than the kit canopy of the Revell or Trumpeter. I appreciate everyone’s input! We all can learn from one another. Martinnfb Posted May 15 Posted May 15 Aerograf canopy follows the same rear spine profile as the Trumpeter kit.
