Kenneth Joy Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Hello all! Quick question... does anyone sell WW2 ParaFrags that would have been used on Havoc's/Mitchell's in the Pacific. I've searched to no avail. Perhaps I'm using the wrong nomenclature???
blackbetty Posted May 3 Posted May 3 i saw some on ebay but cant find them you can see them in this thread: https://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/19922-marine-mud-mover-pbj-1h-gun-ship-“love-bug”-vmb-613-in-early-1945/#comment-239835

Juggernut Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Not sure about the A-20 but there’s a photo in the Warpath Across the Pacific book that shows the parafrag rack in the bomb bay of a B-25 and they’re stowed vertically in individual cells for a total of 72 parafrags. The rack is like a big box with open bottom with subdivisions within. I’ve heard these were locally fabricated but not sure. Others may know more. Martinnfb 1

Kenneth Joy Posted May 4 Author Posted May 4 Well thanks Gents. I'll see if I can get a few. To Juggernaut... I actually have that book and the one on Havoc's and Ken's Men (B-17s). But i was to focused on the Havoc book and must have missed it in the B-25 book. I'll need to look at that tonight. 72 paras would be costly to fill a bombay. Any how thanks for pointing that out
Kenneth Joy Posted May 4 Author Posted May 4 ... there's four to a pack, would need six packs. That's over $60 bucks into a project that is already soaring in cost with all the AM stuff. I'm running out of excuses to tell the wife🤔
Kenneth Joy Posted May 4 Author Posted May 4 Oh no doubt... but the wife is looking at me squirrelly eyed. I keep buying and buying with little ever finished.
Finn Posted May 4 Posted May 4 If you want to go crazy, try scratchbuilding a bunch and while you are at it, i think they used this type of rack: https://www.docdroid.com/K5Qj24z/douglas-a-26-ab-erection-and-maintenance-manual-pdf#page=563 At the 2:35 mark in this video some AN-M40 Parafrags are being dropped by A-20s: https://www.criticalpast.com/video/65675020569_New-Guinea-Campaign_General-Douglas-MacArthur_7th-Division_capture-of-Lae_9th-Division Jari
