My best: WNW DH-9a for the Marine Corps flight museum at USMC Miramar.

I have to add: a 1/540 Revell Wasp converted to CVA-9 USS Essex. Lots of scratchwork, a GMM pe set, some wee resin bits, and gift to my dad, who crewed her on her first cruise, after her SCB-125 modification. Across the equater, dateline, around the Pacific, and around the horn.

What I have on the bench might turn out to be my best.  Meanwhile - my 1/18 scale 21st Century Toys F4U-1A Corsair, with about 5 years worth of modifications and improvements:

It's got a cool scratch built engine:

And it's got a full engine accessories compartment and removable panels:

This bad boy for sure.  I learned so much from this scratch build.  Sheeting 90% of the model with riveted aluminum tooling sheet, turning, casting, vacuum forming styrene and acrylic sheet, custom photo etch, soldered brass undercarriage, and Floquil paint finish without clear coats.  Let alone that massive effort to solve all the "How the frick and I going to build that piece?" problems.  Tho I hope the Jag will surpass it!

This is mine, and the only model I've ever fully finished. Probably because it was for a friend.  I really need to figure out a nicer way/place to take photos! Yours all look so high class!

Of course, none of yours have a crusty old Pontiac 400 in the shot!

There is some real art in this thread, and it's not in this post for sure!

Easily my Prowler. Hard enough to convert the Trumpeter A-6, but pulling off the carrier landing in this scale was pretty slick. 3 years later and that hook is still holding fast btw!

so many cool builds in this thread and we’re only on page 2. Great idea and thanks for the impetus!

This is more of an inflight diorama. I had to really go to school on painting figures to pull it off-

The Smurf Jet will be my magnum opus I hope-

I still think those are miniature people you used a magic cubard and key to shrink!

Like many on here, I love em all but if I had to pick one I think it would have to be the 1:32 Lancaster G George as she would have been just before leaving that May evening for the Ruhr dams.

Lots of challenges as the gent I was building for wanted total authenticity and from an HK kit not the, then, new Border model. Everything was wrong, from the length of the chart table to the doubling of wings giving a life raft on both instead of one. Probably more research on the upkeep mine and the aircraft in general than any kit I've ever built but he was happy so worth it in the endixa4wyK.jpeg

Very beautiful and superbly built models every one of them!  It was quite nice getting to see some of the builds again as well as looking a some that I had not seen before.  Like several of you, there are a few candidates that I consider my best build and after hemming and hawing for a time I picked the one below - that will probably get me killed for the utter blasphemy displayed towards the forum for posting it.
