Mark Robson Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Hi All, Thanks to everyone about their comments on our upcoming Hurricane but this is an update on the 109 K-4. The second test shots arrived from China on Monday. Darren and Richard in Wellington have already been through them and are very impressed. I received mine yesterday and started building it last night and I’m also very pleased with the refinements and changes made, none of which were major but all of which have been achieved in quick time by our Chinese moulding partner. We could certainly release these parts now as a kit and I think they would get a good reception but we’re going to go all out for the ever elusive "perfect" model and do one more round of very minor changes which won’t take long. The decals are almost complete after much debate, the box art is almost done and the profiles are largely done. The instructions are in my hands. This is the first one I’ve coordinated myself and I admit that my full-time vet job has made this a bit of a slow process but I’ll call for help from Darren and Richard if the instructions are going to delay the project down. I’m an eternal optimist and I think we’ll be shipping pre-sales by the end of April with distributor shipments following thereafter. Richard would probably say May On the subject of pre-orders I do apologise for the trouble that people have had with the New Zealand Post website. Like a lot of big organisations their IT people insist they are right no matter how much evidence there is to the contrary. They think their software knows every single address in the world and just because you’ve lived in your house for 30 years doesn’t mean you know its correct address if New Zealand Post's E-Ship software thinks differently! Richard has helped many modellers work their way through this issue and usually what happens is that once you’ve learned the trick, you won’t have any issues in the future. We are grateful to all of those who pre-order, obviously that helps the balance sheet of the company and will help us to hire new designers to make more models. Would also like to point out that the free box art print that goes to every pre-order customer is never going to be available for sale. It is solely used as a way of saying thank you to those who trust us with their money before the kitset is released. I am getting really excited about the buzz you are all contributing to around this model, so thank you! Of course it WON'T be perfect and many of you will disagree with our colour and marking choices but that’s all part of the fun. cbk57 Posted March 21 Posted March 21 I have a pre-order in for this to help you guys out, the minute you drop the pre-order for the Hurricane, you will get my money for one of those. Great stuff and great work. Mark Robson and mozart 2
Juggernut Posted March 21 Posted March 21 (edited) I have two 109K’s on preorder and I’ll most likely preorder the Hurricane as well. I’m getting anxious to see the finished kit from the box art to plastic to the profiles; in short, I’m looking forward to the entire experience! I also recently got involved (researching) the Spitfire Mk Vb (and Vc) Trop after seeing the available decals (and masks) for North Africa and Malta defenders. I hope you guys are looking at releasing a Mk V Trop (b or c). I’ll be in for one of those too fully realizing it would take you guys some time to get it going. You may already have plans for it and if so, you’ve got one buyer in me and probably a lot more like me. Keep up the awesome work! Your kits are some of the best available in ANY SCALE! LSP_Kevin Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Great news. Really looking forward to it! Kev Martinnfb and Mark Robson 2
Uncarina Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Thanks for the update Mark! I have serious respect for the work you and your colleagues put into every one of your offerings. Cheers, Tom Martinnfb and Juggernut 2
Christa Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Accurate models of extinct or almost extinct military aircraft are often easier to create by New Zealanders due to New Zealand's very high sheep to humans ratio - its something to do with Airborne Microfibre Pure Wool Detritus (AMPWD) that has been accumulating in the gut of New Zealanders for donkeys' years. That stuff causes particular people to deploy meticulous attention to detail without causing insufferable know-it-all pomposity, or crass picky behaviour aka gross nerdiness - I don't know why. Also, AMPWD has been linked with top notch entrepreneurial imagination, polite but highly focused determination, courage and first class communication skills, not to mention warm and respectful relationships with collaborators and clients. mozart Posted March 21 Posted March 21 (edited) I echo Hoorah to Mark, not so sure about “up the sheep”! PS, I will also be putting in an immediate pre-order for the Hurricane when announced. Edited March 21 by mozart Christa, Archimedes and geedubelyer 3
fastterry Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Well this critter went and done it, ordered the K-4 (even though I have the Hasegawa one half finished), the only model I have ever pre-ordered in 40+years of modelling. I get the feeling that the wallet will get another pounding when the Hurricane is up for grabs, just not sure if I want the fabric wing or a later mark. TRF CRAZY IVAN5, Martinnfb and Christa 3
LSP_Mike Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Good news. A top of the mark Kurfurst is a good thing. Archimedes, Martinnfb, MikeMaben and 1 other 4
Archimedes Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Fantastic news! On colours and markings: I don't know what it is about the Bf-109 colours and markings but many debates online about this aircraft seem to end up like a knife fight in a phone booth! 😂. I am assured however that the staff at Kotare have made the best choices with the evidence available. My own pre-order is in for the K-4 and I guarantee another for the Hurricane once we can pre-order that. Best of luck lads and keep it up with the AMPWD. 😉 Kind regards, Paul Martinnfb 1
tucohoward Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Still having the issues with ordering on the Kotare website. I was hoping that would have been resolved by now but no luck. Martinnfb 1

Damn that's annoying for you Jay, I had issues but managed to get there in the end. Really looking forward to this one dropping. Regards. Andy Martinnfb 1
Troy Molitor Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Looking forward to getting mine in my hands. fastterry and Martinnfb 2
Rick Griewski Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Yikes …”knife fight in a phone booth?! I thought we have agreed that it’s “my model” so I will paint it the way I want to. LSP_K2, MikeMaben and Archimedes 1 2
