Antonio Argudo Posted March 20 Posted March 20 (edited) Mathieu is working on a very tasty conversion for the Phantom long nose lovers in this scale using the J kit as a base, here are the latest test prints and renders of his work, amazing as always!, cheers Edited March 20 by Antonio Argudo Uncarina, BloorwestSiR, Stevepd and 13 others 15 1
Royboy Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Very nice! But I'd be more interested in an RF-4E Conversion right now! Martinnfb, thierry laurent, scvrobeson and 1 other 4

Martinnfb Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Thank you for the great news Antonio. Cheers Martin Antonio Argudo 1
Tony T Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Looks very nice but we really need an open rotary cannon breech cover for the Tamiya E/EJ: the hatch at bottom inbetween the air con scoops, as was almost universal on armed aircraft on the ground. The F-4J kit would require a different cockpit, wheel hubs, AAR receptacle, and deletion of the cat bridle hooks and DECM lumps and bumps and new correctly-sized jetcans (to replace the undersize kit ones), but as the C/D and E/EJ kits seem out of production this will be welcomed by many. Note the design shown would require cutting back the nose barrel of the Tamiya C/D or J fuse to fit. Like Roy, I'd really welcome a LFD-calibre RF-4E nose, preferably hollow with a camera fit. And a cut-to-fit Spey Toom conversion for the F-4J. The latter would sell well, I'm sure, especially as the Tamiya F-4J seems to remain in production. Great to see LFD getting into jets. Zola25 Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Nice - How about a few strips on the nose to make a JASDF version? 😉 /Niels Antonio Argudo, Martinnfb, dutchie and 1 other 4
Antonio Argudo Posted March 20 Author Posted March 20 (edited) hi Tony, he is working on the open breech cover option too Edited March 20 by Antonio Argudo nmayhew, Martinnfb, Isar 30/07 and 2 others 4 1

The complete cone is a slightly different shape as well I believe. Martinnfb and Antonio Argudo 2
Mark P Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Gotta ask, if so much needed to make an E from the base J kit, why not just buy a 1/32nd scale Tamiya F-4E kit to begin with? Mark Proulx Antonio Argudo, Martinnfb and nmayhew 3

Mark Proulx well, try to look online for the E or EJ Tamiya kit and you will have the answer, the other option in the market is the Revell/academy kit which the nose is simply very far from the word "accurate"! this set will be super handy for many, including me 😁 cheers Edited March 20 by Antonio Argudo Tony T, Martinnfb and Mark P 2 1

Mark P Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Well...FWIW....I did do a little snooping on ebay. Yes, the F-4E from Tamiya can be found there. I must admit to being a little shocked though at the price being asked for it. The F-4E being sold for much higher amounts than the F-4C/D or J. Mark Proulx Martinnfb and Antonio Argudo 2
scott_t Posted March 20 Posted March 20 an F-4G nose would be sweet Tony T, Antonio Argudo and Martinnfb 3
Tony T Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Not only is the E seemingly OOP, it has only the clear plastic nose halves and gun fairing; the F-4EJ release retained those and added the key nose parts in much friendlier grey plastic. The EJ also has the stabilator doubler plates provided as self-adhesive foil, for upper and lower sides (the former came along circa 1974 and the latter ten years later). The Tamiya J can still be found in the UK in the Navy boxing for about £90 (the Marines one, with the bombs and MERs/TERs about £20 more). This may become plentiful as a prev owned item as Red Pill Models get their F-4B and F-4J to market, before disappearing the way the F-4C/D, F-4E and F-4EJ appear to have done. 2 minutes ago, scott_t said: an F-4G nose would be sweet And tail fin pod + rear cockpit parts.
