Said Testors Orange is a great match. I'm thinking I'll go that route and maybe mix in a bit of red as needed to weather the paint. scvrobeson and CRAZY IVAN5 2
CRAZY IVAN5 Posted May 7 Posted May 7 I'm almost afraid to ask what Kitty hawk suggest, International orange is probably the best bet thinking about it. I got an old bottle of Testor's Chevy engine red/orange that looks close but I doubt the Navy went down to NAPA auto parts store for paint. Christa 1
jeroen_R90S Posted May 7 Posted May 7 (edited) I'd think, looking at older T-28 shots International Orange is an option. I mixed up my own from yellow and red, matched somewhat to the AOA decals for the VA-65 A-6E's with those big fuselage stripes. It is a really odd colour depending on light & weathering, I mean, look at those 2 shots: Same colour, but in light (top) and shadow (bottom). I used Revell Aqua to make the mix, can look the recipe up (if you like it) but I'm not sure how useful it is as Aqua isn't sold everywhere apparently. Edited May 7 by jeroen_R90S John1 1

Not a big fan of KH's research when it comes to markings / paint. While they offer a couple of trainer schemes, for some bizarre reason, KH decided to replicate restored warbirds, not actual USN trainers for their subjects. CRAZY IVAN5 1

I didn't say Testors Orange was a great match, I said that the proper color was International Orange, but in scale it looks IO looks too red to me so I use Testors Orange. It looks better in scale to me. John1 and CRAZY IVAN5 2
