geedubelyer Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Congratulations Eric. You have done a splendid job. Erick Candanedo 1
Jim Barry Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Great job. Very much the vibe of the real thing. And hats off for finishing a 3d print kit. They are still teething but we are getting closer! Erick Candanedo 1
scvrobeson Posted May 22 Posted May 22 First one I've ever seen done. Thanks for persevering and delivering a great X-3 build with all of your replacements and enhancements. Matt Erick Candanedo 1
Erick Candanedo Posted May 24 Author Posted May 24 So I finally finished it. The jedmads 1/32 X-3 Kit. Here. some Pictures. on the Revell scale of difficulty I can give this kit a 7. it is not a easy kit. certainly not. It's resin so you know it is not going to be a shake and bake kit. The HPH Me 410 kit was a lot harder. Yes, there are a lot of layer lines on the fuselage. but those are really easy to get rid of. The difficult ones were the layer lines on the smaller sections. Especially the ones with rivets. There is not a possible way to get rid of them, so i ended up sketching and doing my own parts on fusion 360. It is a expensive kit, and for this money you would expect the quality of it to be a lot better. I think they have fix this issue with other kits. not sure. Oh well, if you have this kit just be prepared to do a lot of work on it. I am including some pics of the mentioned layers lines, so you have an idea what i am talking about. I hope i can take some pics later with the X-15 i built about a year ago and the X-1 i built about 20 years ago. They will look pretty cool next to each other. THIS IS MY 3D PRINTED PART AND THE KIT PART THE KIT PART LAYER LINES. IMPOSIBLE TO CLEAN WITHOUT DISTROYING EVERYTHING AGAIN. NEW PART VS KIT PART THIS IS THE KIT PART. NO WAY I AM CLEANING THAT. scvrobeson Posted May 25 Posted May 25 You did a really great job on it, despite the challenges. The first X-3 I've seen completed, not sure we'll see many more of them done. I really enjoyed following this build. Matt
