Archimedes Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Hi Folks, A gem I picked up recently is that Tamiya's lacquer LP48 'Sparkling Silver' is NOT some metal-flake paint suitable for cars but, when sprayed over a polished black base, in fact dries as a bright chrome. MRP also does a lacquer paint that dries as chrome with a darker look to it (perhaps more like a nickel finish). I'm not a subscriber to Facebook but there is a thorough test here for those who do: Chrome Paint Test I hope that is helpful. Kind regards, Paul nmayhew 1
Thunnus Posted February 15 Posted February 15 I'm not sure I'd describe Tamiya LP48 as a "bright chrome". Looks more like a dull metallic to me, based on the photos in the referenced post... TankBuster 1
TankBuster Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Looks good I will have to pick a bottle up to try. Cheers.

The referenced post doesn’t do that and so we see the result shown in photos. I don’t subscribe to Facebook so didn’t get high resolution photos. I’ll be redoing the Tamiya and trying out MRP at this point. Thanks for posting the high resolution photos. Kind regards, Paul
Archimedes Posted February 15 Author Posted February 15 Spencer Pollard’s results with LP-48 over gloss black: https://www.facebook.com/SpencerPollardModels/photos/last-weekend-ian-hartup-pointed-out-that-tamiya-lp-48-sparkling-silver-was-actua/1282787406244583/?_rdr Kind regards, Paul
