alain11 Posted February 18 Posted February 18 hi some gaps that need a bit of putty indeed , but nothing that can't be fixed ( its a prototype isn't it ? )....I know other "traditional" kits that do not better ..... good job Alain Martinnfb, geedubelyer, airscale and 2 others 5
mozart Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Only to be expected on any first fit. airscale, Martinnfb and Kagemusha 3

This is so frustrating - in rhino they are pixel perfect, no gaps and one shape is subtracted from another so they are literally within microns of each other... come to print them though and having tried all sorts of orientation and even now the inner wings are printed with a continuous 'skin' I break off before curing to preserve the shapes, we are still getting these gaps.. I am really not sure what I can do, but it is not good enough.. 25 minutes ago, mozart said: Only to be expected on any first fit. You are too kind and forgiving Max :), unfortunately this is anything but a first fit, I have about 20 sets of wing to fuselage joints and they are all like this to one degree or another.. I would go back to the drawing board, but I have worn it out... KiwiZac, Derek B, Martinnfb and 9 others 12

It is more acceptable for this gap to be at the front of the wing, if it were at the back I think it would be a bigger problem What is important to me is that there is no difference in level between the fuselage and the wing. I must say this clearly; Although this kit is a test kit, it has an excellent design and fitting overall. There will of course be minor difficulties. LSP_Kevin, Out2gtcha, Bonkin and 5 others 8
thierry laurent Posted February 18 Posted February 18 If only all model assembly issues were so "terrible"...! I would not worry that much Peter!🙂 cmayer, Martinnfb, Tolga ULGUR and 1 other 4
dennismcc Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Not as bad as some of the PCM kits I have built recently, its a Defiant, thats the important thing. Cheers Dennis Martinnfb, Kagemusha and Tolga ULGUR 3
geedubelyer Posted February 18 Posted February 18 (edited) This looks superb generally and better than many IM models so I don't think you should be too hard on yourself Mr. Airscale. We have seen from your own builds that for you, perfection is just not good enough so we understand you set the bar really, really high. I suspect most of the customers for this will have a modicum of modelling skill so none of what we are seeing in Tolga's build of the prototype should present an insurmountable problem. A couple of thoughts. How easy would it be to recess the radiator pod in a similar manner to Airfix's Spitfires? If it's possible that might alleviate the troublesome gap in that area. For the wing root, it looks as though there has been a little clean up of the mating face? Could the wing root panels be provided as separate parts in a similar way to those on Kotare 's Spitfires? The fillets needn't be too thin at the wing or fuselage if they fitted into a rebate in those parts. Keep on trucking guys. This is so cool. Martinnfb Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Nice progress Tolga. She is coming together nicely. And as we all know Peter likes to achieve nothing but perfection in his work. Thats why he is my personal modeling guru. Having said that, I don't see anything tragic about usage a little bit of putty. Not a biggie. Cheers Martin Derek B, Tolga ULGUR and Kagemusha 3

I am honestly not “just polite” when I would say, I am sure that for most, definitely including me, these gaps are absolutely tolerable. What you made here is a piece of love and passion for modeling. Those mainstream kits might look perfect after release, but here you can feel a heart beat. That’s what counts.
