tomprobert Posted March 3 Posted March 3 I've been watching this project progress and umming and ah-ing about whether I want a 1/32 Defiant... but the more I see the more I want one! You're doing a great job on what will be a stunning kit. Tom geedubelyer, Kagemusha, Derek B and 1 other 4

Tolga ULGUR Posted March 5 Author Posted March 5 I started applying the decals; First stage are the roundels. upper wing roundels are from the Xtradecal set The fuselage and Lower wing roundels are from the Fündekals spitfire set "A1 roundel" on the fuselage is not exactly what it should be. I realize the outer yellow circle should be a bit narrower, but I couldn't find a more suitable size Code letters etc are still on the way JayW, Derek B, Stew Dapple and 34 others 37
Tolga ULGUR Posted March 6 Author Posted March 6 I'm still waiting for the decals. I decided to mess around with transparent pieces and frames. Peter sent some excellent clear parts. Transparent vacuformed parts mounted on thin frames, they look perfect. I painted the canopy and windscreen. IainM, Out2gtcha, Kagemusha and 35 others 38
tomprobert Posted March 6 Posted March 6 The transparent parts really look good - Peter has done the same for me for my 1/32 Stirling and this certainly bodes well! Keep up the great work - I'm sure Peter won't struggle for sales with you showing us what a fantastic kit this will be... Tom Troy Molitor, Tolga ULGUR, Martinnfb and 2 others 5
petrov27 Posted March 6 Posted March 6 wow! The clear parts look amazing! Your build also looks top notch really great work! Was there a reserve/sign up to purchase this kit yet? Martinnfb, airscale and Tolga ULGUR 3

williamj Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Canopy transparencies look the best. and so does the paint. Tolga ULGUR, airscale, Palm-tree and 2 others 4 1
JayW Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Oh excellent transparencies! And to think this is a proto-type kit. It is turning into a masterpiece. Well done! Martinnfb, Palm-tree, Tolga ULGUR and 2 others 4 1
airscale Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Looks fabulous, it is so special to me to see this endeavour come to life in such masterful hands so a few notes about this particular kit - Tolga's is printed at 0.060 microns so has some visible layer lines, the kit itself is being printed at 0.030 microns so twice the resolution and will have virtually no layer lines. This is the big decision in 3D retail as the prints take twice as long - for example the mid-section fuselage is doing it's last run and I started printing that a week ago. I could turn out twice as many in the same time but I want the best quality and that takes time The transparencies are also unique to Tolga's build. In this case, I vacformed a set and fixed them to 3D printed frames - a tricky task and why people don't like vacforms in their kits... they look great actually, but the production kit will have injection moulded transparencies which are being tooled now by the folks that do Dorawings & Reskit (& their stuff looks outstanding so I have high hopes..) 4 hours ago, petrov27 said: Was there a reserve/sign up to purchase this kit yet? There seems to be quite a bit of interest, and even some folks asking for 2 kits when it comes out, but the first run will be 100 and will be released on a date and time I will announce when I have received the transparent parts - expected in 6-8 weeks. The design is complete, the instructions complete, the decal design is complete and I am about a third the way through part production The prototype is on my website as a placeholder advertised at £250+ and that's where it will be for sale when released, though may be nearer £300. That's a lot of money, but I can assure you not only is it expensive to produce in volume, but each part, let alone kit is personally curated to be the best I can do and that takes a lot of time. I don't have designers, production staff, logistics, packers, printers, I just have me, so if you want a 1/32 Defiant and you can afford one, buy one, if you can't, I can do no more than apologise for teasing you TTFN Peter rafju, Derek B, Biggles87 and 22 others 25
