monthebiff Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Fabulous work Max but that all looks very close and probably very difficult. I'm. Intrigued ! Regards. Andy mozart 1

Might be an option. Matt
mozart Posted May 4 Author Posted May 4 Well no Matt, the whole idea is to use as much of the MDC kit as possible, just the Revell tail end and the canopy/windshield. Derek B 1
mozart Posted May 6 Author Posted May 6 (edited) A good hour's bench time this afternoon! I started by grinding away the excess resin as highlighted in the last post, and by the way thank goodness I invested in one of these recently: The "heavy duty" work that I have been doing would have taken hours with a knife and sander, but it's literally a few minutes with this beastie! But when I offered the engine up, the prominent wing interlocking tab got in the way: So it had to go. The plan is to pack the wing internal surfaces with plenty of epoxy : I'm planning to fix the wing in place shortly and before joining the fuselage halves together now that I am confident that the engine in its present state (it's not quite finished especially the underside) fits: It would be true to say that this simple conversion has thrown up a couple of unanticipated difficulties, but that's what makes life interesting int' it? Greif8 Posted May 7 Posted May 7 You did a masterful job dealing with the fit issues Max! Engine conversions always come with fit headaches it seems; even when using the kit parts, and aftermarket engines/bearers rarely fit right out of the gate in my experience. I had to do some trimming and sanding on my recent FW 190 A-8 build, but it looks like you had a more complicated surgery which you did with your usual excellent workmanship. Ernest mozart 1
mozart Posted May 7 Author Posted May 7 Thank you Ernest, I must admit this really is the kind of modelling that I love and find the most fulfilling, which probably explains why my Kotare Spitfire is currently sitting unfinished right now….It’s just too straightforward!
