I have been corresponding with Andrey of Halberd Models.

He informed me they are working on a 1:32 resin model of the Mauler: planned release sometime over 2025.

I never expected such an exotic aircraft to be reproduced in our scale: the thing dwarfs a Skyraider in size!

Andrey mentioned he is in touch with the team currently restoring an airframe at a museum in US for an accurate rendition.

Quite a challenging project, nevertheless given the high standard of Halberd previous releases in 1:32 scale, I am pretty confident the final result will be a gem.

Halberd is not open to pre-ordering at present: they will announce it once comfortable with release and delivery dates.

I am kindly encouraging all the fellow modellers to take into consideration this endeavor: a small-size manufacturer of hi-quality models based in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine deserves support. On a personal basis, I am a frequent and happy customer of them: it's unbelievable how they can grant such a customer care level under those tragic circumstances.

I have received permission to share this info and - needless to say - I have no commercial interest in the Company.

Hopefully more to come in a near future!

Fully a 1/3 bigger than a Skyraider! I saw the one at the Naval air museum in Pensacola and this is one big aircraft. it didn't have what one would call a stellar fleet career but it could carry one big load of whoopa$$ ,wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of one of those! IF they're able to bring this to market , I may have to save up and quit eating for a while to snag one. Their factory[?] is in a very hot part of the battle zone so they're one tough bunch of hombres, I salute them!

Hmmmm.  One paint scheme, few ever built, minimal operational history, never saw combat.  I just don’t see the appeal and I’m a tailhook builder.

The same argument could be made for their Cavalier Mustang, or their Goblin. But some people just like something a little different :-)

While all true ,the same could be said for the F11F Tiger and a few others . Though they only built ~150 Maulers  there's something about the beast that attracts. There maybe more of an appeal than we all think[ I'll try to score one if I can.

For those that are apparently unaware, the Douglas Skyraider is only .9 inches shorter than a Mauler would be in 1/32, and has the same wingspan as a Mauler (in full scale, the Skyraider's wingspan is actually larger by ¼ inch).

Yet, there are no less than 5 mainstream 1/32 kits of the Skyraider from 2 different manufacturers, and no one has ever bellowed about those Skyraider kits being so huge?

Even the Grumman Avenger's wingspan is larger than both of them by more than 2 ½ inches in 1/32. All 3 of them are very similar in overall height, too.

Just bizarre.

With wings folded, the Mauler's wingspan falls under 9 inches

Exactly right. I would treat this the same way I do ALL of my navy types [ foreign and domestic], fold the wings ,bing ,bang , boom done and done problem solved. Looking at the "big picture", it really isn't that huge in the day of 1/32 scale Lancasters, B-24s, and B-17s A little bigger than a Skyraider, not a whimpy thing itself. It just seemed massive when I was standing next to it at the museum, a matter of perspective I should think. It would work on my shelf and be welcome too.
