F-108 Rapier.....it's here.

Chad Summers has produced another fabulous design. He is still in the final design process, refining and adding details.

 

He will be sending me some prototype files for a test print. I don't have them yet. Chad is also in the process of determining the best way to Market/Produce/Share his design. I don't know how he will share the parts/files. I have been fortunate to receive some of his past creations, and they have been a blast to print out and model.

 

The F-108 seems to be his most complete and and most detailed to date. It features extensive surface details, with complete cockpits and landing gear. And it looks like he has included a full missile bay with Aim-47 missiles.

 

 

 

 

 

 

When I receive the files I will start a Work in Progress.

 

In addition I just purchased and received a new resin printer. It is an Elegoo Saturn 3. It has a much larger build plate and 12k resolution. So the 108 will be the maiden project. Although I haven't got it up and running yet I expect a quantum leap in print quality over my Phrozen Mini.

LH, according to calculations it should be 33 inches long with a 24 inch wingspan.

I didn't even know that such a plane exists. Appears to be a monster, kinda reminds me of the Valkyrie. HF building it!

OMG!  Never thought I'd see this in 1/32.  One of the greatest looking jets that never flew.

To me, the F-108 always looked like the result of a love affair between an A-5 Vigilante and a XB-70 Valkyrie.

Picked this thread up just this morning after posting a link in Discussion to the Britmodeller thread that derived from this one! Doh! Obviously a little too much Yuletide spirit! 

 

If it goes commercial it might prove irresistible. Really looking forward to seeing this take shape.

Anthony that is a good question,  and I don't  know the answer.

 

Chad designs these aircraft as a hobby. In a recent conversation he mentioned how busy he is with his real job. So designing cad models has taken a back seat for now. If I find out anything I will post the info here.

 

I am looking forward to building one as well.
