Yes, Dutik, they are both my options and so are the three-tone blue one from the same sheets!

I haven´t decided yet, but I have begun building.

I bought this kit from a friend to a more then fair price and he had started the build.

More to come in the next part, then I will show some more pics and what acessoires I have!

Hi all!

Time for the” Asia” GB!

The kit I choose for this build is a Mig-21MF “Fishbed J” from Trumpeter, a quite old kit (2001), one of their earliest and this is a straight copy of the Academy 1/48 kit!

Too bad Eduard´s splendid kits were way in the future then!

IMG_4398

Academy´s kit was a nice and easy build and Trumpeters MiG-21UM Mongol in 1/32 was not that bad either, so I expect (hoping…) this kit will go together quite nicely too.

I bought this kit, slightly started, from a modeller colleague for a more then fair price.

It´s not much done, only the cockpit and some tanks.

I bought these decal sheets from Albatross many years ago and they live up to the title “Weird MiG´s” indeed!

Here You get markings for 6 aircrafts on each and man, are they colorful!

…and Part 2;

These are the aircraft options I have for this build;

North Vietnam;

IMG_4422

India #1;

India #2 and #3;

I have already done the three-tone blue N.V. machine in 1/48thscale (Yes, I have these sheets in 1/48th scale too) and the last two options are a bit bland (even tough I like the stripey one!).

I landed in this option, I love the cammo colors and the all black tail with big bold Yellow lightnings!

Thanks, Dutik!

It was a hard choice, but I will build almost all of these in 1/48th scale as Eduard´s MiG-21 line is marvellous!

There´s so many cool and weird schemes out there, and I want to build all of them! :frantic:

Hi All!

This kit was, as I mentioned earlier, already started when I got It.

The engine was assembled but luckily not painted….

IMG_4417

…but the cockpit was assembled, painted and glued to the starboard fuselage part.

IMG_4431

Usually, I don´t like to get a model already painted, but this was so well done, I couldn’t have done It better myself!

The instrument panel was also very well done…

IMG_4436

The only thing I don´t agree with Is the color choice, a bit too dark, but that´s too late to change now.

IMG_4432

Luckily, my predecessor had the good taste to use a Cutting Edge cockpit, the best You can get for your kit and rare as hen´s teeth today!

If you can find a CE cockpit, it will cost you a lot of money!

IMG_4433

The first thing I did was a dry fit with the fuselage parts and the cockpit was exactly where It should be!

IMG_4416

As usual with this type of fuselage breakdown, I glued the two sides together, to get two “normal” sides.

Trumpeter have a quite large “lip” for gluing the rear section and the fit is perfect!

IMG_4418

I taped the fuselage halves together while the glue cured to avoid any problems with the fit later.

IMG_4415

As the fuselage halves dried, I assembled the nose wheel bay.

I really don’t like it, but I have to screw/glue the nose wheel leg now.

IMG_4419

The nose gear leg (and the main gear legs) is made from a type of white metal, but not from the soft crap metal SAC uses, this is very hard and will not bend over time.

Nose wheel bay is glued to the fuselage.

I've had one of those 1/48 Eduard MiG-21s in the stash for years.  I really ought to dig it out and build it soon.  Enjoying watching your 1/32 MiG go together.

Thanks, Alex!

Same here, I have bought the Eduard Mig´s as they came and have at least 10 in the stash, but never have gotten around to build any of them, but everyone I know says they are superb builds!

THIS year I will build at least ONE...

Hi All!

The Instrument panel was already painted when I got the kit.

IMG_4436

Very nice seat, this will be a blast to paint!

IMG_4437

The armament is built, you get more “bang” then You´ll ever need!

IMG_4438

The fuel tanks are built…

IMG_4439

Wings and stabs glued together…

IMG_4440

The fin glued…

IMG_4441

The engine is done, quite detailed, but you´ll won´t see much of this…

IMG_4442

My best reference book on all things MiG-21, over 700 pages and 4Kg. (approx. 8 lbs.) you won´t need anything else then Yefim Gordons fantastic books!

IMG_1774

The inside of the air intake and the exhaust part painted with UMP Black primer and then Alclad White Aluminium in the nose and Alclad Steel in the engine section.

IMG_4443

As I had the Alclad Steel in the airbrush I painted the bomb shackles(?) too….

IMG_4445

…and the exhaust ring.

More to come soon…

The Gordon book is a gem. And useful to flatten warped parts too :D To have a CE cockpit included is like winning a lottery, not to mention getting it for cheap :speak_cool:

Hi Dutik!

Yes, I was VERY happy when I saw the CE Cockpit!

Only thing needed now is a set of new wheels, I´ll get them from Reskit (they are on the way!).

I have several of Yefim Gordons books in this series, Su-25, Su-27/33, MiG-15/17 and -19 and more...

Hi all!

The tanks are painted Alclad Dark Aluminium….

IMG_4481

The seat and the stick are painted with that lurid WEM Soviet Interior Turquoise green

IMG_4507

I primed the metal nose cone with UMP Black Primer and then I used WEM Russian Tractor Green (as I´m out of the “real” color…).

IMG_4510

Slightly too light, but that´s good enough for me…

IMG_4511

I painted the ”cold” part of the engine Alclad Aluminium….

IMG_4512

IMG_4513

…and the “hot” end Alclad Steel.

IMG_4514

IMG_4517

The engine glued to the rear fuselage, also painted with Alclad Steel.

IMG_4518

Everything is painted and glued to the nose section…

IMG_4519

As You can see It´s a Cutting Edge cockpit that´s been used here.

IMG_4520

My predecessor did a very nice work in the cockpit!

The nose cone (radome) glued to the fuselage, but I fear this won´t hold together too long.

IMG_4521

IMG_4522

Ready for marriage!

IMG_4525

A few (lousy) pictures on the cockpit before I close it up.

IMG_4524

The fuselage glued together, a very good fit indeed!

IMG_4527

IMG_4529

This is all You can see of the engine, and there will be a hatch covering this hole!

IMG_4530

More to come soon!
