Welcome to the Aircraft of Asia Group Build!

This runs from 1 December 2024 to 31 May 2025.

The theme covers any aircraft from any period from a country in Asia. I define Asian countries as per the Wiki page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asia#States_of_Asia). For Russia, if you can show me the aircraft was based East of the Ural Mountains then it's in. Visiting aircraft, for example USAF F-4s in Vietnam do not count, but a South Vietnamese Skyraider would.

Our standard rules for Group Build eligibility apply as usual, which includes that the subject model must be a 1/35 or larger helicopter or aircraft kit, and that it be no more than 25% complete at the time of entry.

Have fun!

My Yak 18 is nearly done after only five days.

I'm a bit unsure what to do at the next convention.

Buy more simple kits and build many in the GB.

Or,go for the 1/24 th Trumpeter Zero or Rufe ?

That should keep me going longer on one kit .But even that is not certain

Hey fellas, I have several choices for this build.  Do I need to announce it beforehand to get approval, or do we just go with it as long as it meets the requirements?

If it meets the requirement, then feel free to just go ahead and start posting.

I must wait to get back home before I can start....

Maybe this clarifies the issue a bit?

My impression is that the aircraft has to be in the markings of the Asian country.  If we’re talking the Flying Tigers Hawk 81s, they were certainly flying with Chinese markings, as well as being owned by the Chinese, so they would count in my book.

The same would go for captured  WW-2 allied planes in Japanese markings.

Confirmation request.

Does the Curtis Haw 91-A2 'Flying Tigers' qualify for this group build?  Been driving 1300+ miles and having a bit of brain fog.

When built in Chinese markings, I would say yes, that qualifies.
