Nice work so far.  This is a really good kit to build.  Except for those silly guns...   :mental:

Cheers,

Michael

Thanks Michael, and yes it is! But those guns are almost as fiddly as the PE bits on the HGW seat belts, and that's saying something!

I have just ordered the ‘ Brian Lane ´ version, which I intend to build straight from the box and avoid any ‘ improvement/correction ‘ delays, which is what usually lead to my interminably long builds. Here’s hoping.

Nice one John.

Yeah, got the joy of mega-masking first!

Very nice work, Richard!  I can't get over the fuselage rivets though. Are those present on all of the Kotare Spits?

Thanks John. They've been present on the three that I've built!

So.. here's where I got to last night.

Firstly, many minutes of masking. Rather than spraying the camouflage free-hand, I took the 'easy' route and masked everything. (A mistake in retrospect, but we'll come to that.)

Here it is, all trussed up!

Much spraying of green paint later, and like a moth appearing from its chrysalis, we got this:

Eek! I'd completely underestimated how good the chipping fluid I'd applied would work, and removing the masking removed rather a lot of the brown paint too.

I actually took the photos after I'd done a bit of damage limitation, plus added some of the extra bits (spinner, exhausts) just to make myself feel a bit better.

So, some respraying is required before I can start the weathering process. :(

Hey, ho, it's all part of the fun isn't it? Would be boring if all went perfectly, eh....

I feel your pain Richard :(

Something similar happened on my MkIX build after I used hairspray as my chipping medium. The coloured layer of paint remained extremely fragile all through the remainder of the build until I gave it a final sealing coat.

Good luck with the renovations.

It's purely a temporary setback.
