AngryJazz_Models Posted Friday at 08:27 PM Posted Friday at 08:27 PM Hi all of you! After lurking for quite a while it's time for me to share my build. I was inspired by a build log i saw on here and luck would have it that the Ki-45 came on sale at my local hobby store (77€) not long after. I started the kit not long after and really enjoyed it! ...until i got to the exterior.. So many things to fill, sand and scribe. It killed my motivation for the build. It sat for a year before I took it down and tired to make some more progress. Fixing much of the gaps and seams - but ultimately it ended back on the shelf. So this build log is something to help me stay on target and finally finish the kit(or bin it). The interior was really great and fit together very well. Although I used the paint called out in the manual its more green than the correct brown / grey. Also i forgot to paint the interior spine part, so a lesson learned with kits like these. Luckily it's not too noticeable. So here is the progress over about 1,5 years and the current state of the kit. Huge kit! Current state of the kit - have since attached the tail and working on the landing gear area. Kagemusha, patricksparks, Fanes and 19 others 22
LSP_Kevin Posted Friday at 09:33 PM Posted Friday at 09:33 PM Welcome aboard, Ben! Looks like nice work on the Nick so far. Kev Martinnfb 1
Archimedes Posted Friday at 09:43 PM Posted Friday at 09:43 PM Fantastic to see - and I also like the Sopwith Dolphin next to it! Don't give up Ben! I joined for exactly the same reason as you: to get a build completed and used the build log to hold me to it and I am glad I did. You have made great progress and I'm certain you can get this one over the line. Bravo so far! Kind regards, Paul Martinnfb 1
Kagemusha Posted Saturday at 01:26 AM Posted Saturday at 01:26 AM Nice work so far, hoping you don't bin it, your sense of achievement when finished will be all the greater, there are a few builds on here which should prove inspirational, I'll post links tomorrow when on my laptop.
scvrobeson Posted Saturday at 04:24 AM Posted Saturday at 04:24 AM Looks like this project is coming together quickly and cleanly. Looking forward to what you do next Matt
dennismcc Posted Saturday at 09:44 AM Posted Saturday at 09:44 AM (edited) Looking good, no wait a minute it's looking great, I have one of those in the stash so will follow with interest. Cheers Dennis Edited Saturday at 09:50 AM by dennismcc
Javlin1 Posted Saturday at 02:40 PM Posted Saturday at 02:40 PM Ben the interior looks great may I ask any AM in there?I have this kit also just wondering does one need AM?The color kind of reminds me of the Ki-61 interior?
AngryJazz_Models Posted Saturday at 08:16 PM Author Posted Saturday at 08:16 PM Thank you all for the warm welcome 😊 The WNW Dolphin was actually finished in February this year, so it would be nice to get the Ki-45 done too! Engines are also built, so after the wheel bays it should hopefully be close to primer... "checks manual - oh 10 more pages before i'm done 😂 "
AngryJazz_Models Posted Saturday at 08:21 PM Author Posted Saturday at 08:21 PM @Javlin1 Thanks! The interior is built out of the box. The instrument panel is made from the clear piece with the decals applied to the backside. It looks quite alright so maybe the only upgrade is fabric seat belts if you don't want to use the plastic ones. Javlin1 1
Dpgsbody55 Posted Sunday at 04:48 AM Posted Sunday at 04:48 AM Nice work so far on what looks like a good kit. I do like Z-M kits too. Cheers, Michael
