Hi Alain, thanks for your compliments and for your superb video.  :clap2:

Well, no trace of pee, if I may say so!
Strange story, and don't confuse a Jug with a retirement home!
If there were liquids leaking from the plane, it was oil and gasoline, not anything else!
Until proven otherwise!

Ah, so it wasn't an urban legend, but it's true that it's hard to see because it's under the seat.
Thanks!

A question Juggernut, was this anti-glare shield present in your opinion on my P-47 D 22?

Let me do a little research on that.  I've not seen these in P-47s before but since one of  the images you posted above is from the parts book (-4), it may have come with the aircraft as a Basic Equipment Item (BII).  I'll let you know what I discover.  Tag is also up on the P-47 so he may know.

UPDATE:  As far as I am able to tell, the glare shield and the foldable glare shield may have been issued with the aircraft but when in squadron service, may or may not have been removed.  I can't see any information from the parts book that the P-47D-22RE would not have been issued with these two glare shields but whether they were removed or not is beyond my knowledge at this time.  As I said before, I haven't seen any photos showing these glare shields in place (other than the one in your post).  My belief is fundamentally that these were removed by the squadrons but can't say for certain that it wasn't an individual pilot request.

After looking through some of my references at photographs of P-47D Razorback cockpits, it appears that some do have the foldable glare shield installed, others have the rigid glare shield installed, and still others have no glare shield installed.  If you have photographs of the cockpit area of your chosen subject, you may be able to see whether it has the glare shield or not.

As a side note, I did not see any bubble top jugs with this type (or any type) of glare shield so it must be a razorback specific item.

Thank you very much for your message and your research!

Here is the only photo I know of my P-47 :

We agree that it's hard to know if it had the anti-glare shield or not.
So to sum up, if I don't put the foldable/rigid glare shield on my P-47, nobody will be able to cry scandal! ;)

Juggernut I have a question to ask you. Was the armored glazing present or could it be present on "Eileen" that I am currently making?

Excuse me Denis for asking this question in your post.

The armored glass behind the windscreen?  Yes, it would most probably be there on all combat P-47 razorbacks.  It was integrated into the windscreen on the bubbletops.

Well, today it was microsurgery with the sight support and the metal frame of the windshield armor.

I'm not sure what color to use:

-sight: black?
-sight support: green?
- metal frame of the armored windshield: black?
-inside metal parts of canopy and windscreen: green?

-plastic part on the photo where the sight support is glued: green?

I've looked at several wartime and museum photos, and they obviously contradict each other.
The metal frame of the armored windshield canopy is green in the museum but looks black in the ww2 photos...

It's beautifully done, congratulations my friend.

To answer you about the armored glass, I think that each device could be different. But the truth is elsewhere...

Just getting caught up on your build Denis.  Superb work all around and the photo etch you have worked on stands out as especially excellent.
