jeroenpeters Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 (edited) Hi all, I have been absent for quite a while, but active on LargeScaleModeller. At the moment I am working on the - SH Westland Whirlwind with 3D printed RR Peregrine engines exposed. - SH Tempest with all the sets available - And this Trump 262 with the horrible MDC U2 conversion and other AM. The MDC set has suffered severe shrinkage and ugly castings. Some of the parts I am completely remaking. Also experimenting with a Vacform machine to remake the transparencies that are somewhat yellowed, but also sloppy casted. The deck in the resin nose has shrunken in length and width. This was fixed with Evergreen. The whole rear wall of the nose looked like it had shrunken to 48 th scale. This whole wall was remade using a modified Trumpie part. The top of the nose (rear deck) was 2,5mm short on both sides. This was filled up with Evergreen and smoothed out. I can go on and on... Shrinkages were also found in the Aires set, but with some alterations this was made to fit. The KG13 control stick in the Aires set looked like it went on hunger strike. I 3D printed a new one. I bought a Vacform machine and am now trying to make new Vacform transparencies. We'll see how that turns out... Rampenfest Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 Very cool! what’s the story behind the 1:1 scale instrument panel on the wall? Are those original instruments?

Are those original instruments? The panel itself has been lasercut from a certified drawing. Almost all the instruments I have now are indeed original. The only replica is the directional compass, but a very good one at that. I also have an almost complete Spitfire Mk.V panel and FW190. A very expensive hobby... Shoggz and Rampenfest 2
jeroenpeters Posted November 26, 2024 Author Posted November 26, 2024 The MDC resin Lofte-7D bombsight is a mess. Every single part looks liked chewed out gum. I started cutting back detail and then decided I was quicker 3D drawing and printing it. Getting there. About 50% done on the drawing. Landrotten Highlander, HB252, Philbucknall and 12 others 15

Greif8 Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Good to see you back and building here Jeroen! Bummer about the shrinkage, but you more then solved those issues with some excellent scratchbuilding. The 3D printed joystick looks great as well, as does the vac formed clear part. jeroenpeters Posted November 30, 2024 Author Posted November 30, 2024 The prints came out OK. Also thinning the plastic of the engine covers drastically. Aaaand ordered the FWP 3d printed Jumo004. I can't be arsed to finish my 3d drawing. Furie, Victor K2, patricksparks and 9 others 12
Wouter Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 I'm still amazed what can be achieved with 3D printing. Looking mighty fine Jeroen! jeroenpeters and Martinnfb 2
Greif8 Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 That is some highly skilled 3D printing Jeron. I would not know even where to begin with designing and then printing a 3D part, and your's looks good enough that people would buy them. Impressive man! Ernest jeroenpeters and Martinnfb 2
jeroenpeters Posted December 2, 2024 Author Posted December 2, 2024 Adding inner detail to the engine covers. And dry fitting the bombsight. So far so good. Recieved PETG film today to vacform my own canopy. Fingers crossed. LSP_Kevin, Victor K2, Martinnfb and 6 others 9
jeroenpeters Posted December 2, 2024 Author Posted December 2, 2024 Doing research into a crashed Me262A-1a/U3 I have a little fragment of. Crashed in the Czech mountains near the border at Cheb. Might go for the AIMS conversion for this. But first I'll try to finish this one. vvwse4, Martinnfb, Victor K2 and 7 others 10
