Early, Mid and Late Pakwagen?

I just bought the 1/16 Das Werk kit.  I will take the easy route and build the half-track with the most interesting camouflage.  The instructions are clear what parts go with each variant.  Any obvious differences that I could be aware of?

BTW.  If people are still interested in the awards type of thing,  this kit should be armor kit of the year.  Das Werk has nailed it.

That would be fun in 1/16.  I haven't bought or built any of their kits yet.  Getting figures for it would be expensive.

Das Werk really put a lot of detail into their 251's! Read through the instructions carefully - and then read through them again! I haven't built one yet, and would have to go back through the instructions to give details, but one of the main differences is the tracks - the metal cleated ones are the late ones - but they are pretty clear on that. You should also check out the AFV Modeller website, they have several detail sets for the 251 including new late parts. It might help identify any items you might need to add for the variant you want or at least verify that Das Werk includes the same version part.  The detailed decals in the kit are awesome, check out the radio decals!

BTW, Andy's is having their Black Friday Week sale, discounted heavily as they are moving sometime soon. Their M-10 kits are at $99 and armored cars about $80.

I'm working on the StuG IIIG right now, and the attention to detail is very nice, easily on par with Tamiya, but perhaps a bit less finesse.

Out of my memory late 251s had a slightly different front armor with a simplified access door to the engine compartment.

 I don't recall any changes to the front armor (I may be wrong) but they did have a different engine access door, it was just a single piece, hinged at the rear, instead of the two sections of the earlier ones.

This is exactly what I meant. I think the structure was also a little bit simplified for production but such details were not visible externally.

More and more figures and figure sets are showing up.  A few in the $15 to $20 dollar range per figure.  Now I need to process the uniform types for time and battle location and poses for a Marder III H. Each figure could become a large project just by itself. No way am I putting a full crew and infantry in the ‘251.

Proof of the pudding will be to venture out and buy a few to assess the quality.  I will find a driver, binoculars man and gunner. The loader will be problematic.  He needs to be posed in a cramped crouch.  My tankless guys said they will help with uniforms

$15-20 is about the price for IM 1/16th figures. Resin ones are $45-65 each.

When it comes to large figures, you don't want to skimp.  Think Jeff Shiu versus Tamiya.
