blackbetty Posted November 7 Posted November 7 I fooled around a bit what would be my next build this time. I pulled the Viggen out (had allready drawn decals for that one) then a Harrier, the Trumpy D Tomcat, but then stumbled on this pic: i dont see the BRU rack on the plane, but the digital Flankers carry HARMs: the blue/yellow fin is nice, so i will give it a go HB252, Martinnfb, Paul in Napier and 8 others 11

blackbetty Posted November 7 Author Posted November 7 (edited) we will se how the foxbot masks will perform, i heard of mixed results i also ordered the aires exhast cans and the resikt HARMs (a not used birthday present, funds are tight at the moment) more pics of the real planes would be nice, so if anybody can help.... stay tuned Karl Edited November 7 by blackbetty MikeMaben, Sasha As, Greif8 and 12 others 15

dutik Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Someone with a lot of cabinet space, given the size of the bird Did you use the Akan paints before? I have a bunch of them in the stash but lacked the balls to use them. Any first-hand expirience here? Regards - dutik blackbetty and Martinnfb 2
Biggles87 Posted November 7 Posted November 7 I have one in 1/48 and it’s big, so I can I imagine how huge this one will be. I thought the markings were decals until I read the post again! Good luck. John blackbetty and Martinnfb 2

Stokey Pete Posted November 9 Posted November 9 With the Foxbot masks, it pays to try and take a bit of the tack from the adhesive. They’re very strong, and take quite a bit of elbow grease to remove. I had quite a bit of paint lift in areas where there’s a lot of surface detail. So I’d retain the leftover masking material on the sheets to assist with any repairs. I also got into the habit of using a little water underneath the masks to enable you to slide them around like decals, letting you have a brief moment of manoeuvrability with the placement. Have fun with the build, and try not to tear your hair out when you get onto that paint job. It’s a brutal test of your paint prep’ efforts, and masking abilities. scvrobeson and Martinnfb 2
blackbetty Posted November 11 Author Posted November 11 i want to use clearcoats between the colours and hope it doesnt get too thick of a layer if the masks dont work i think about drawing them in illustrator and cut them out of tamiya tape ...and yes its BIG Martinnfb, Philbucknall, Brett M and 7 others 10
blackbetty Posted November 13 Author Posted November 13 (edited) at first i made the aires pit fit the rear deck is a little too narrow, so i inserted plastic strips Edited November 14 by blackbetty Martinnfb, LSP_Kevin, Shoggz and 2 others 5
blackbetty Posted November 13 Author Posted November 13 (edited) the side walls of the fuselage have to be narrowed for the resin sidewalls/sills to fit. the curvature of the resin does not fit properly Edited November 14 by blackbetty Greif8, wingman777, Landrotten Highlander and 5 others 8
