J58_2.webp

The engine is expected to be finished and ready for sale in November. Without doubt the J-58 is one of the most complex and difficult of our projects.

We assume that until modelkits of the SR-71 in 1/32 scale appear, this model will be a very limited edition only for collectors.

However, we could not refuse since the order was made by an important writer and expert on SR-71. We are very grateful for him confidence in financing a part of the development. And the SR-71.... is the SR-71.

We will also launch this engine in 1/48 scale to have some commercial output.

Would be a serious attraction with a transport dolly/cradle.

A 1:32 SR-71A was being proposed on a Telford table a couple of years ago. Did that die a death?

Hello Michael.

Thank you very much for your interest.

In 1/32 I ruled out the presale by the poor output. I can reframe it. But please remember that there are not at this moment modelkits of the SR-71 in 1/32. And will be needed divide the total design expenditure between forecast minimum sales. I will be able to give an approximate price when the tests be finished.

Yes, Tony.

I’ve been thinking about it too. Normally the J-58 is shown on a tube trailer. I would like to make another trailer for its installation used on the bases of SR-71 assets.

Or both may be.

In any case we sell those trailers separately. There are users who place the motor on a pedestal as an exposure.

About the aircraft modelkit I don't have news. I think they are still on it but had problems with the moulds because of the length of the model. Thing that they were already correcting.

I do not rule out that we will launch in this later with HQ 3D.

Hello John:

In my opinion 1/32 is the first scale with enough size to model almost every detail. So, yes. It can. It is possible that there would be some retouching, but it would not be a problem.

That with the engine. If you’re talking about the complete plane, as far as I know there are only printers of those sizes using FLM, PLA ( plastic ). In this the resolution has nothing to do with other case. It’s another world. You’d have to sand a lot and the quality would be much lower than a mold. Quite the opposite of SLA ( laser ).

J58.webp

The J-58 enters at last in the 3D printing testing phase after 5 months of research and design. The design is 90% waiting to check if adjustments are needed by the results of these tests before finishing it. Undoubtedly the most complex design we have faced because of the intricacy of its machinery. We believe that the result will be exceptional.

We want it to be ready for sale this December as the level of detail that we have addressed has caused delays. We’ll try to hurry as we have many new releases pending such as the J-79 for the F-104A that was postponed to begin the works with the J-58 under commissioning, and a new range of accessories for the Mirage IIIE. But we cannot reduce the times in exchange for a lower quality. So the rest of the models will have to wait until the end of December or January.

Ah... and MERRY CHRISTMAS to the fantastic people of this forum !!!!!!!
