Archimedes Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 For the Francophiles amongst us: Dora Wings have announced a Dewoitine D.520 in development in 1/32, 1/48 and 1/72. They have released CAD images too. Kind regards, Paul chukw, Iain, LSP_Kevin and 22 others 19 6
scvrobeson Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 That should be a great replacement for the old Azur kit. Great to see them still producing new kits under tough circumstances Matt rafju and Archimedes 2
Dpgsbody55 Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 One to watch out for. Show me the plastic!!!! Cheers, Michael Archimedes 1

dennismcc Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 One of my favourite subjects, the old AZUR kit nearly drove me nuts but I loved the result, so a modern one would be very welcome. Cheers Dennis scvrobeson, Archimedes and Furie 2 1
Steve Eagle Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 A new one would be welcome. Dora wings seems have fairly good rep. Azur was tough but doable. Archimedes 1
thierry laurent Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 This was initially announced around two years ago but for obvious reasons the project was noticeably delayed. Happy to see it progressing, even slowly. RBrown, scvrobeson and Archimedes 3
Borsos Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 It’s definitely time for a state-of-the-art kit of this important and beautiful fighter. The Azur-kit definitely needs to retire. I‘ll definitely pick up one of these Dora Wing kits. Archimedes 1

Archimedes Posted July 21, 2024 Author Posted July 21, 2024 Question: The Dewoitine D.520 is not an aircraft I am that familiar with. In a straight one-on-one roughly equal pilots how would a D.520 fare against a Bf109E? Kind regards, Paul

And, from personal experience as a 10 year old, my 1/72 Air Lines D.520 beat my friend's Revell Me-109 in Driveway Dogfights any day of the week (and my Pactra paint job was better than his too!) Jean-Michel Posted July 21, 2024 Posted July 21, 2024 Don't forget you can find all original plans here : Dewoitine - Danel (56 J) AD31 - Archives départementales de la Haute-Garonne To find the plans, on the left window, click on : + Société Nationale de Constructions Aéronautiques du Midi (SNCAM). Société Nationale de Constructions Aéronautiques du Sud-Est (SNCASE). +Conception et fabrication. + D.520, monoplace de chasse and then, on the main (right) window, find Plans de fabrication. (février 1939 - juin 1940) you can choose wich part you want to see : "groupe I" for wings, "groupe II" for fuselage... Uncarina 1

Kind regards, Paul I'm not much of an expert here, but IIRC German ace, Werner Molders, was shot down over France by a D.520 in 1940. The D.520 could hold its own, but there weren't many occasions where the 109E and the D.520 fought. D.520's were only available in limited numbers when the Battle of France began. It saw action with Vichy France against the British over North Africa and in Syria. Archimedes 1
