  1. Yesterday was my first, but definitely not last, visit to wonderful Shuttleworth Collection of aircraft at Old Warden airfield in Cambridgeshire. I was accompanied by two friends, both volunteer helpers there so their knowledge enhanced the specialness of the day: From the left, Mike Chilestone of this forum, John Shipman, whose father Ted was a Battle of Britain pilot and latterly my father’s Chief Flying Instructor in S Rhodesia….and yours truly! For me, the real highlight was this stunning beauty: A Hawker Demon. She was taken out of the hangar ready to be prepared for a flight at the funeral of her owner. I took the opportunity to take many detailed shots which will be in the “Walkaround” section before too long. Other notables: Spitfire V; shortly after I took this pic the three of us were helping move her back into her hangar….that alone was a thrill! Had to take this of course: So pretty! And…. a Sea Hurricane and….. something shiny for our American friends: I haven’t even included the many WW1 types that I photographed, may do a separate thread later. Hope you enjoy those above.
  2. Hi everyone, I have been very quiet due to my bad hands - no improvement at all sadly. Pressing on..... the RAF Camera sets in 1/72, 1/48 and 1/32 are ready now and I also have a new 1/32 Gloster Gladiator Exterior Detail set available. anyway to save me typing too much just have a look at my updated website please and email me at aimsmodels1@gmail.com if you need anything, thanks http://www.aimsmodels.co.uk/
  3. Hi everyone, I am making my ICM Mk I Gloster Gladiator as a J8. The kits cockpit was already started as it was my display model for advertising the AIMS cockpit detail set so trying to paint it up nice as an afterthought means it is by far my best work. There are some more bits to add to the right side but these cannot be added to until the halves are together. Also on the J8 the IFF control on the upper left side was changed to underneath the Flygradiostation type III device but mine was glued solid as had not intended making the kit! Anyway apart from my mistakes I hope you like. thanks.

  10. Hi everyone here is an update for you all.... Decals 32D018 and 32D019 in the post to me....see pics Photo etch 32PE009 completed and off to printers having received my kits and amended measurements from up-scaled 1/48 Roden bracing wires design 32P018 Gloster Gladiator engine/cowl - working on 3D masters now that I have the kit Pat Pattle figure being sculpted by Elan 13 in January (not listed in Hannants Future products as not given a Cat No. yet just in case it all goes wrong haha Upper Aileron correction - in the works (ICM have given upper ailerons same design as lower aileron - upper aileron centre hinge is small like inner hinge - not large like lower centre hinge - makes a massive difference as as things stand you are unable to locate in the correct position the aileron bracing wires just off-set from strut. PE landing flaps - in the works Thanks everyone and a very Happy Christmas to you all. (I am taking the Christmas family service again this year here in Hungary - my Hungarian can be rather comical so please pray people will understand me haha)

  13. I was very privileged yesterday to have a tour of the Retro Track and Air works, escorted by the owner Peter Watts. RT&A have the contract to do all the engine work for the BBMF including the Lanc engine that caught fire, more of that later. What really caught my eye though was this Gladiator undergoing restoration, it is really stunning. The original was recovered from Norway in remarkably good condition so as much as possible is being used in the rebuild. Max
