OK - no blowing raspberries you lot... Another build/project/squirrel. Came to the conclusion before Christmas that a lot of the model projects I'm playing with are big and complicated - thought it might be a good idea to pick up a nice, modern, small(ish) kit and not overthink it - if it could be a test bed for other stuff I'm trying to learn - and a few new techniques - all the better. Now I do have a bit of a 'thing' for pre-war RAF/FAA types - and have quite a pile of projects I really want to do - but they are mostly a little intimidating, and expensive, resin kits. Max, and others, have provided great inspiration with Gladiator builds - and Max's beautiful Gauntlet. Now - it happens that I have three ICM Gladiators tucked away - relatively cheap - and I have spares if I c*ck it up... Modelling bench cleared over the break - and a start made. Oh, and here's what I thought of the kit when it was released. Aims decals - the 56 Sqn markings have already found a home elsewhere... A selectuion of 'extras' - not as complex as it may look. RB Productions flat rigging wires - sadly not currently available - and something I've been wanting to try for ages. 3d printed vinyl instrument panel - in this case Quinta - again - something I've been meaning to try for a while. AIMS etched fret for the Mk.I and Mk.II - will only be using a few of the comprehensive collection of parts provided. Plan is a little extra detailing - without going mad - and a neat build and silver paint job. Oh - and a bit of 3d modelling and printing. Back in a mo... Iain

Hi, Gladiator from ICM is a very enjoyable adventure. Fast to bulid, with nice engine. ICM was in road to top of plastic manufacturers, unfortunately because of Russian aggresion they halted production. I added Aires seat with seatbelts, and PE. I have strenghten horizontal stabilizers and skids with needle/paperclip.

Hi everyone, just finished my ICM Gloster Gladiator / AIMS J8 conversion, hope you like it. I am obviously not a bi-plane modeler as I went for the option of directly placing on top of the main wires a length of 0.5 rod, believing life was too short to try and drill into it 0.15 by 0.3mm back to back slots and then again in the middle and at the end - twice over - shoot me! Kit was built using the following.... AIMS Mk 1 engine set, upper ailerons, decals, Cockpit PE, bracing wires and external details PE, landing flaps PE, J8 conversion set, Gas Patch RAF turnbuckles x4 and a lot of scratch building. Model was finished using Xtracolour WWII Olive Drab and RAF Barley Grey and as indicated my AIMS decals. I will take some nicer photos once I have it on base, Thanks for looking -John

Hello all, You might as well know that I'm standing on Max's @mozart shoulders while doing this WIP. Max led the way. I just followed. As a modeller, my main interest has always been the Cold War period with the occasional incursion in the late WWII. Although I have a fascination in the between-the wars planes and their shifting technologies, I never had the chance to build one. Let me also add that this is my FIRST BIPLANE. So hang on tight and let the ride begin! A picture of my Belgian Edition ICM Gladiator, basically a regular release with a sheet of Dutch Decals added. I won't repeat what has been already said about this kit. Let me add that the design of this kit is exceptionally clever, making the building a real pleasure ... except on one point. But more of it later. As usual, a fine coat of Mr Surfacer 1200 is sprayed on all the parts with the sprues still on. It helps to bring on the details as well as the blemishes we'll have to deal with. Then a careful study of the parts, especially since I'm new to the subject. Similar-looking parts are hand marked to avoid confusion. followed by a dry-fit of the different components. The cockpit is correctly detailed while being basic. It can be easily improved by refining and adding some smaller details like switches and map cases, ... Gun shell ejectors added Wing gun pod ejector slots Side doors opening latches refined Refined throttle Instrument panel is correct for MK I.
