  1. FED-SPEC purchased GSA's entire 30,000-pound inventory of FS-595C products a few years ago, and we normally sell FED-STD-595 fan decks for $158 and individual color chips for $35 each. However, starting with members of LSP, we are offering a 20% discount and free shipping to the modeling community for these products. (These are first-line products, not seconds, and color chips include a Declaration of Conformity.) Use the discount code, LSP-20, during checkout for a 20% discount on these products, and then use the code "free-gnd" to additionally get free FedEx ground shipping (for US destinations). The website where these codes can be used is: https://www.estore.fed-std-595.com/. FED-SPECS can also be reached at 800-962-3900. As background, FED-STD-595 was initially released in 1956, and the latest version is FED-STD-595C, released in 2009. The DOD has begun migrating to a non-governmental Tier-II specification (AMS-STD-595A) for new procurements, and they have applied the misleading classification of "Cancelled" to to the Federal Standard as a part of this migration process. "Cancelled" actually means "No longer needed by DoD," not obsolete. (In fact, based on GSA reprint schedules, the FED-STD-595C color chips should remain acceptably accurate for QC and Inspection purposes until at least 2029, and fan deck life will be comparable.) For additional clarity, DOD specifically says, "Non-DoD Organizations may continue to use a Cancelled Document." (This information and definition are on page 50 of this DOD document: http://www.esd.whs.mil/Portals/54/Documents/DD/issuances/dodm/412024m.pdf)
